I had to ask.

Watched the Harrison brothers at the Under Armour Pittsburgh tourney today. PG is number 1 prospect and his brother is #7. Coach Cal and Bill Self up here to watch them. However, didn't see them at the team's 12:40 game but did see Jay Wright and a ton of other coaches. They play for the Houston Defenders, the #2 rated 17U team in nation. LEGIT!!! And Hoop Dreams 14U bear a New Jersey team in our first game. Play team Lima tonight.

Sat beside Crean and Izzo last night. Izzo is a very nice guy.

The big AAU tourney's I have been to, the coaches are separated from the rest of the crowd.

They are here too. I was recording right next to the taped off area.

I was at that game as well. They both looked good, but weren't at their best. Still very impressive. Sounds like they are pretty much locked in to UK...

The one I went to in Cincy was like that. Also the one in Cincy, my husband did talk to Roy Williams for awhile. The one in Indiana had the coaches come in a separate door and sit on the opposite side as the fans. There was little to no contact to the coaches in that one.

That's how it was at the Adidas Invitational at Indianapolis last year.

And they had waaaaay better parking.

Part of gaining NCAA certification for tournaments is insuring college coaches and scouting services will have seperate seating. So, they are always seperated.

But depending on the venue, the general public could be seated closely. For Example, in Orlando games at the Milkhouse provide a large buffer because of the layout of most courts. It's almost impossible to get near the coaches unless you're participating. In games played down the road at say Celebration HS, a piece of rope is the only thing between the coaches and other spectators.

As Spindoc mentioned, coaches get other perks, but their school's are paying for them. And, as SD said, most of the coaches are very nice and don't mind dealing with the public at all. The rule is in place for good reason though.

My guess is GT was alluding to his scouting work, when he mentioned his seating arrangements at these tournaments.

J. Demlings update on KY teams/players in AAU action this weekend:

Some Kentucky kids and top Kentucky teams have shown well during the first two days of the evaluation period this weekend.I don’t have access to all but here are a few highlights:

• The Ville is undefeated and in the semifinals of the Eddie Ford Spring Classic #1 at Hoops in Louisville. Darryl Hicks of Trinity and Montgomery County’s Omar Prewitt (photo) led The Ville in a morning game, while North Oldham’s David Levitch hit five three-pointers and had 20 points in the first round tournament game.

• The Ville plays Legit White of Indiana, while Team Nashville and the KC Spurs play in the other semifinal of the Spring Classic 1.

• More later on the three Kentucky players – Trinity’s Miles Rice, Lexington Catholic’s Jack Whitman and Sheldon Clark’s Justin Johnson – who are playing in the Nike EYBL with the Tennessee Travelers. All three have been solid.

• The Travelers 16U team is playing in Clemson, S.C., and in one game on Saturday Knott County Central freshman Camron Justice poured in 32 points. Trinity’s Raymond Spalding and Christian Thieneman are also playing for the Travelers.

• Hearing Johnson Central’s Shane Hall is one of the top sophomores in the Under Armour Hoop Group Pittsburgh JamFest. Hall has helped the Hoop Dreams team of Kentucky kids into the 16U semifinals.

• The Louisville Magic 17s is 2-2 in Las Vegas with Quentin Snider and D’Angelo Russell leading the way. The 16s team also won two games on Saturday. The tournament will continue in Las Vegas on Sunday.

• The BA Hoyas 17s team is in the semifinals of the Bronze Division of the Spring Classic at Hoops. Bullitt East guard Rusty Troutman has led the Hoyas in scoring in all three games and has 57 points in three games. Trinity’s Sam Strothman and DeSales’ Evan Bingham have both scored double figures in two of three games, while Bullitt East’s Trey Rakes has 14 assists.

Hoop Dreams 14U Went 2-1 in Under Armour tourney in Pittsburgh. Beat a NJ team fieat game. Did not play well second game and lost to a good team. Won today. Beat a really good team by a large margin. 68-40 win over Team Adidas out of Pittsburgh. Now on to King James in Akron next weekend. Will have big kid back for that one. HUGE factor.

^

Good to hear. Keep it up and good luck at King James.
