April 14, 201214 yr I remember some talk about the Reds are all in too win. Can someone tell me what they have done to say they are all in? I see no difference in this years team than last years. And last years team wasn't all that grest. Latos trade, Madson signing, Marshall trade, Votto contract, Phillips contract ... Reds starting pitching staff is much better this year than last year.

Stubbs last night with two strikes was still hacking away like he knew a first pitch fastball coming. Votto is one of the best two strike hitters in baseball. Not only at two strikes but one of the best hitters period...

April 14, 201214 yr I thought Dusty screwed up on the last play. With one out the corner infielders play in and the middle infielders play at double play depth. With Cozart bad, that is a easy DP ground ball but not when they are playing right behind the pitcher. Also, Werth did everything in his power to make contact. It did not even look like a full swing.

No. What if there's a slow roller to the SS and the only play with them playing back is at 1B? Game over... People will just always try to find a way to hate on Dusty.
April 14, 201214 yr Hard to blame that on Dusty. Not gonna win many games scoring 1 run. Did you like the way he handled the top of the 12th when they had the leadoff man on 2nd and 0 outs? Why pinch hit a rookie there for a veteran left handed hitter who has probably been called on many times to sacrifice. Total waste of a pinch hitter in that situation imo. Had Harris batted he could have probably gotten the runner over with a drag bunt and who knows what else could have happened on the play. I get tired of people defending Dusty. 1 run games are usually won or lost by decisions the manager does or doesn't make. If you don't believe that ask any good manager on any level and they will agree with that statement.

The manager goes over the options with him before he goes to the plate. Do you think he's going to bunt it to the 1st baseman if he is standing on top of him? By the way you give Dusty Baker way too much credit for thinking clearly. He has proven time and time again that he DOESN'T clearly make the right decisions. Have you even played the game or been around a ballfield other than as a spectator? Decisions have to be made on the fly lots of times and I think Dusty's whole body of work shows his ability to make quick decisions.

You're the one who said drag bunt...That's clearly not the correct play in that situation. You would have complained if Willie Harris screwed up the bunt too. You would have wondered why he didn't pinch hit Cozart for him. Dusty does a lot of things that have me shaking my head, but at sompoint you have to put the blame on the players. The loss last night was on the players, plain and simple. Dusty can't get a sac bunt down, Dusty can't catch a fly ball at the wall. Dusty can't get hits. Who would you all that complain about the lineup rather have in the game? They don't have a whole lot of options that are hitting right now. As for your comment about me being around the ballfield. I played baseball in college so I know my fair share about the game...
