Gotta love the Red's hitting approach against Edwin Jackson today, get up there and hack at early pitches. How's that working for them? Jackson @ 37 pitches through 4 innings and Homer @ 60 through 3 innings and the Reds trailing 3-1.

Jackson is throwing strikes, Homer isn't...

It's not a hard concept to understand.

You all going to blame Dusty for Bailey walking two players in the second?

Is Dusty in charge of who is in the rotation?

I'd say it's Walt's call more than Dusty's, but I could be wrong. I'm sure he has input though.

Homer threw strikes early but Washington still took pitches and when they got in the hole they fouled his pitches off. So I guess you're saying that the Red's hitters just suck because they can't hit strikes?

I'm not sure what game you're watching. Homer threw strikes in the first, and then again in the 5th and 6th innings. Those were the innings he had the most success. In the other innings he was falling behind guys and nibbling at the corners.

As for the Reds hitters..yes they suck right now. It is what it is. They're not getting any hits. But when Jackson is pounding the zone you can't just stand there and get behind 0-1 and 0-2 every at-bat.

They've swung at a few balls out of the zone early in the count, but there haven't been many.

Reds will win the next two in Washington.

So much for that prediction...

For fear of being persecuted for being in "panic mode," I'll preface what I say with the fact that if the Reds cannot pull this one out, they're 3 games out of first place with 153 more games to play. I am aware of that. I will say that this team is showing all the signs of being non-contenders for the past 2 series, and here's to hoping they get it figured out. A 4-game sweep by the Nats would be rough.

Hitting has been awful. It's tough to watch.

Latos trade, Madson signing, Marshall trade, Votto contract, Phillips contract ...

Reds starting pitching staff is much better this year than last year.

The team I see on the field today is not better than last years team. An argument could be made that it's worse.

Against frighteningly mediocre pitching.

11 runs allowed in the last 4 games?

11 runs scored in the last 4 and 7/9 games is what I'm saying. 29th in the league in OBP. They've faced a pitching staff that is hardly one to write home about.
