mcpapa
Listening to the tape, I was taken back to the pregame speech for the semi-finals in "The Karate Kid". "Sweep the leg."
Clyde
Gregg Williams needs to take the Wunderlic. This guy is incredibly stupid IMO. Team gets told to clean it up and he starts the garbage up again in front of a film crew? What an idiot. Apparently, Pamphilion did not have the authorization to release the tapes. Gleason: Tape release not authorized - NFC South Blog - ESPN Too late now. Gleason probably just doesn't want all of New Orleans to think he's responsible in any way. Wireman
“Kill the head and the body will die." Geez... Found this picture of Gregg Williams on the sidelines:
PurplePride92
Too late now. Gleason probably just doesn't want all of New Orleans to think he's responsible in any way. But he's not responsible. The purpose of the documentary is to document for his kids how hard he worked to be in the NFL with a debilitating disease. Not to expose Greg Williams. He has enough on his plate and now the whole purpose of the documentary is tainted by Pamphilion who didn't have authorization to release the tape. Now Gleason's kids are a victim when they didn't have to be. What was the purpose of releasing the tapes when Williams was likely out of football forever anyways? What did anyone gain from the release of this tapes?

PurplePride92
I never said Gleason was in any way responsible. True. Just responding to your post. I may have taken it wrong the way it read.
halfback20
True. Just responding to your post. I may have taken it wrong the way it read. You must have. I was simply saying its too late because the tape has already been released. Can't go back now. Then I just said that Gleason is releasing this statement just to let all of New Orleans know that he isn't responsible for the release of the tape. Although I am glad it was released. NEERFAN
I didn't have a problem with the audio until I heard him say "I got the first one". All the other stuff is common pregame talk but when he starts talking about money it's a whole different ballgame.

It's common pregame talk to tell players to hit opposing players in the head as much as possible? Or to take out a players ACL???
stick1
I stand by my statement that this has gone on for a long time behind closed doors. I also stand by as a defensisve player I'm trying to knock people out of the game on every lick. As a Coach I've never said hit a kid in the head. Take out an ACL etc. I think that's where the line is drawn. The Saints covered up a lot on this which got them in hotter water. The big problem Goodell has is you can't preach player safety then let this slide. The amount of lawsuits that could come out of something like this jepordizes the integrity of the league IMO. NEERFAN
It's common pregame talk to tell players to hit opposing players in the head as much as possible? Or to take out a players ACL??? I don't know how common it is to specify body parts but it's no different than saying knock such and such out of the game. When you start saying you'll be the first to pay for those actions then it's over the top. I don't agree with Pamphilon saying "The public had a right to hear it". What's said in the locker room really is none of our business. With that being said, Williams is an idiot for do such a thing on tape.

oldonetechnique
He was very graphic and some outside of football who do not know alot about the game IMHO have blown this way out of proportion and its now a which hunt! When you refer to hitting someone hard, you might say...knock their head off, run through their chin, when you talk all week about tackling a big reciever you may say 100 times run through his "outside knee" across that ACL, its coaching, when you bull rush you may say I am gonna run you over the pile! I think the media and NFL have dramatized this thing, but I do believe the saints have brought some of this on themselves. I also do think that Williams may have went too far in his speech, but do we really think that one of the best Def. Coordinators in the league, is teaching his team to run around and take out players??? I mean come on guys.
