Seriously, I only dislike Louisville two times a year usually. Once during football season, and once during basketball season. I get to dislike them twice during basketball season this year, but like I stated earlier, if they beat Kentucky I'll be rooting for them on Monday night.

 

About the same for me, except I will always root for UC to beat them also.

I used to cheer for all KY teams unless they were playing UK.

 

That has changed over the last 15 years. I work with a bunch Louisville fans, but they spend most of their time doing nothing but bashing and hating UK. I swear they would rather see UK lose then Louisville win. You get tired of it after a while.

 

So needless to say. I don't wish anything bad on Louisville, but I cannot bring myself to cheer for them. Maybe if the were playing North Carolina.

I don't dislike Lville, and I will root for them when not playing UK. I will admit that I did root for Moorehead State last season when they played the Cards.

I come at it from a different perspective than most. A transplant from Maryland who enrolled at Morehead in 1973. I had never seen anything like UK basketball culture - people seemed to be much more supportive of UK than their own (Morehead) school.

 

I found it amusing that it basically took government intervention to get UK and UofL to play basketball on a regular basis.

I loved it when Morehead beat UofL in last year's tourney. But to be fair, I would have loved it had they defeated UK.

 

I side with UK this time around because I'd really, really like to see Darius become the first person in history (that's what I keep hearing) to win KY Mr. Basketball, the Sweet 16 title as a senior and the NCAA title as a senior.

 

Darrell Griffith did all three. However his state title was his Jr year.

It's just a rivalry, and if you can't have fun with it sports might not be your thing. Some people take it overboard, but that's life.

 

We are all pretty big UK fans at work for the most part, but another guy takes it to the next level. We decorate his cubicle with Louisville stuff whenever he leaves. He throws a tantrum and we all laugh and do it again.

 

I saw the story about the old men fighting over the teams, and thought it was dumb.. But I watched a guy get thrown through a window once upon a time after accidentally bumping shoulders in a crowd so I can't say I'm surprised.

I've got a lot of friends that are great Louisville fans. I've got a lot of friends in other fan bases. Not even close their fan base whines more than any other fan base I've experienced. Every single game they blow up facebook with how bad they get cheated. How bad they hate Pitino etc. They play the UK thinks they are better than evrerybody card. Then they turn around and hail Pitino as the coach of the year. They talk about how much better UK is etc. End of the day the cry way to much, want their cake+eat it too.

I hate Louisville because they inundate me with constant pleas to give them $ as an alumni.

 

Basketball-wise, I always root for them except for the CATS game. I like their style, love watching Behanan and Gorgui.
