I'm looking forward to the thread after Saturday. Maybe we will have something about the actual game to talk about. And this is in reference to their being a better game, as well as people not complaining because Jarrod Polson didn't get more than 45 seconds of PT.

They didn't really show the replay much, but anyone else think that MKG's block (in the first half I think) wasn't goaltending? I thought it looked pretty clean. I wonder if there wasn't a blatantly missed one in the Syracuse game, if it still would've been called.

I remember Joe Hall subbing in the '78 title game to honor his starters and get bench warmers' names in the score book. Duke cut it down to 4 before Lee made the margin 6. It left some (Feinstein in his book for instance) believing the game was closer than it actually was.

Drove my dad crazy that night too. And it gave Duke the sense of "if we had just done this" they could have won. I've got the game on DVD now and went back to watch it and the entire 2nd half they weren't in the game until Hall started pulling the starters.

 

BTW, Did anyone hear the comment from someone yesterday? Maybe Rafferty, said he saw Jim Spanarkle one day and said, "Have you figured out yet that Goose Givens is open at the FT line?"

Can you imagine after being up by almost 20 if something crazy had happened and Duke pulled it out? Joe B would have had the feds investigating him.

Someone really compared to "let up" in this game up 30 to the one against Vandy in a close game?

He does need to learn to drop off the rim quicker. He's not trying to showboat, but he does hang a half second longer than he could (although the other technical this year was a complete joke).

I am a big critic of Cal not pulling the starters, but they allowed WKU to go on that big run at the end, no killer instinct! But at the end call a quick TO and get them in.

It was 30 with 6 minutes left, and 15 with 1:30 left. So yeah, I don't have any problem with him keeping the starters in as WKU is making up 15 points in 4:30.

I've seen much worse so far this tournament. Davis is on the rim 2 seconds maybe, swinging from his momentum. I've thought both calls against him this season have been absurd. I fear it will come again at a crucial time in a big game.

I didn't agree with this one either, but it was at least debatable. The first one he was at terminal velocity. He lets go of the rim when they want him to there was no telling where he was going to end up.
