March 13, 201214 yr Just seems when a U.S. soldier is killed by some fanatic over there, it is ok, not like it is a big deal, but when we do something we are the devil. Very true, but we hold ourselves as Americans to a higher standard and deliberately killing innocent civilians is not ok. Not to mention how many more coalition service members, including Americans, and civilians will be killed because of this?

March 13, 201214 yr The moment President Obama gets our troops outta there the better. He is a weak President on foreign policy. He is the greta equalizer. We are all the same. All sountries, and that is not true at all. Where is his outrage about what is going on in Syria? Why aren't those citizens being murdered "considered United States"too??
March 13, 201214 yr But we've made it more likely to happen in this one. I was listening to an officer who has been through 4 deployments on the ground (nearly 5 years) in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today's soldiers have spent more time in combat zones than any previous American fighters. Think about that. Because of the small numbers in our military (comparatively speaking) we have sent the same people over and over again into "shadow of the valley of death" than ever before. We have to have a better system, more budget to enlist more soldiers, or stop fighting wars of occupation. I might add that innocents die in all wars as you say malachi but this was MURDER, not war. Yep, and it's happened in every war since the beginning of time. To think otherwise is naive.

March 19, 201214 yr ...I didn't realize the guy was from Norwood, OH. Saw that. Played high school football with Marc Edwards who ended up going to Notre Dame. Sounds like he's had a few scrapes with the law in recent years. Unfortunate and I have zero doubt combat contributed to his problems.

Kind of interesting to the situation - a little - a good friend of mine is an Airborne Ranger, and he's apparently having his security clearances upgraded. The military routinely will perform a series of interviews amongst friends, family members and known associates to try to see if there's anything "fishy" about the person they are reassigning clearances to. When I was being interviewed just the week before last regarding my buddy, they had a whole series of questions regarding whether or not I had observed any emotional stress or signs of PTSD. I was glad to hear that was a concern of theirs, even if it was an otherwise routine interview.

March 19, 201214 yr If we're going to permit as many as four deployments, I hope we're willing to commit adequate resources to deal with the mental health, substance abuse, etc. issues that are likely to come with the territory.

There's a 5-way stop light at Ritte's Corner in Latonia about a block from Holy Cross High School. There's another one out in Bridgetown (western Cincinnati) right by Bridgetown's Finer Meats, and there's one up on Altamount Road in west Covington.
