16th Region Poll 12/31/05

Featured Replies

Boyd has beat four teams in the 16th reigon

so far.Ashland,Greenup,Elliott,and West.But

your right there is alot of basketball to be

played.BC next three games are Johnson Central,

Russell, and then Farview should be a good test

for the lions.

And in light of that, Boyd should be ranked ahead of Ashland - right where AT41 put them. Just like last year, I would give the nod to Morgan at the top, until and unless they lose a game or two to 16th Region teams.

I think that there are at least 5 or 6 teams that can win the Region this year:

Morgan

Boyd

Ashland

Fairview

West

Russell

Elliott

I'd put them (roughly) in that order at this point in the season, but you could probably move any team on that list up or down two spots and make a good argument for the move. As we all know, everything played before late February is nothing more than a warmup anyway.

I doubt that you made it to the AIT. If you had, then you would not have balked at ranking Ashland ahead of Russell at this point.

At the AIT last year, Russell was 1-7, and we know what type of run they went on after that. That may well happen again this year (Dodd is an excellent coach), but until they do, based on both teams' performances last week, Ashland probably should be ahead of Russell.

I haven't seen Elliott or Fairview, but there is no more reason to rank them ahead of Ashland rather than vice versa. As I said earlier, the next two weeks will see a lot of this shake out, but at this point, not enough 16th Region teams have played each other to make any concrete rankings. Consequently, AT41's opinions are as valid as anyone else's.

And I doubt that AT has seen Fairview or Elliott. I have seen them all and there is not reason to put Ashland ahead of either at this point. I cannot argue that AT is entitled to his opinion no matter how biased it is.

On thing is certian, he has Ashland ranked right there with a team that beat them in their own gym by 20. I know that Wilcox was hurt at the time but Blair is less than 100% for Russell. If anyone has ever had mono then they know it takes quit a will to get back to full strength.

Two things -

One - AT41 rated Boyd ahead of Ashland - not equal to them.

Second - AT41 is clearly biased toward Ashland. Just as you are clearly biased against Ashland. For the sake of clarity, when you accuse him (or anyone else) of being biased, please recognize your own penchant for taking shots at anything (and everything) Ashland - just to keep the field level.

Thanks,

Frances

I'm going out on a limb and stating Boyd will not go 3-0 over the next week,

they have a shot at 1-2, with 2-1 the odds on favorite,if they do go 3-0, I will be the first to nominate them for the "top of the poll" :thumb:

AT, I appreciate your loyalty toward Ashland but please tell me how you justify including them with Morgan and Boyd at this point. To rank them ahead of Fairview, Elliott, and even Russell at this point is a reach.

I think you will become a Fairview believer on Friday. That game will be a war.

Just be glad I didnt rank them #1. :thumb: On Second thought, here is my new poll.

1.Ashland

2.Morgan

3.Boyd

4-14. Everyone Else

15. Fairview

16. Rose Hill

Is this better?

One - He has Morgan, Boyd, and Ashland lumped together. There are no numbers by their names. I read that as these three are the cream of the crop and then there is everyone else. If I interpreted his post incorrectly then I appologize. Of course, in his recent post he clarified my origional thought.

Second - He is certainly biased toward Ashland which is fine and for the sake of charity I'm biased toward Rose Hill not against Ashland. Go back and read the football boards and tell me if I am biased against Ashland. This is a typicall response from an Ashland fan. Their record is below .500 win wins over Knox Central, Letcher Co., Pulaski Co., West Carter, and Lewis Co. Not exactly the 1927 Yankees now is it. So I'm anti Ashland because I can't see ranking them ahead of a team (Russell) that has a similar record, or ahead of two teams with better records (Fairview and Elliott). Ashland may very well beat Fairview on Friday and if so I would be the first to tell you that they deserve to be ranked ahead of them. Until then they deseve to be ranked in the middle of the region.

The difference between me and AT41 is this. I see Rose Hill's short comings. Based on Rose Hill's results on the floor I think they sould be ranked 10th to 14th in the region below your Tomcats.

BC-86

Ashland-66

In the event that the Tomcats lose to Fairview on Friday, how far do they fall in everybody's poll? :sssh:

BC-86

Congratulations, you have beaten us twice in the last 13 games. Lets have a party. :dancingpa

Cubby,

Elliott beat Fairview, so shouldn't they be ahead?

Fortunately the only game that counts is the game that was played this year :thumb:

As for the poll:

1-Morgan

2-Boyd

3-Ashland

4-Russell

5-Fairview

But as everyone has seen, every team is capable of winning and losing games in this region. It will be interesting to see which team is really clicking when the tournament rolls around.

It will be interesting to see how this discussion sounds in about a month!

I would say that if Ashland loses on Friday, the measure of their descent will also be impacted by the outcome of the other games played in the 16th Region this week. :thumb:
