Actually, there were a three branches at one point: the original in Ft. Thomas, the Ft. Mitchell location in Grandview Station, and another that was in Cincinnati - OTR, I believe. The Ft. Mitchell store moved up Grandview into Crescent Springs around '92/'93, and they closed the Cincinnati store somewhere in the mid-90's. The Ft. Thomas and Crescent Springs locations merged into a new Latonia location next to the Latonia Kroger around '02/'03, and the store changed ownership somewhere around then as well. The new owner hired a bunch of metal heads who wouldn't stock much of anything but metal, and when the Latonia location started to fail, they moved the store up to Erlanger in the old VanLeunens plaza between the pet shop and the tire store. That location limped along for a year or so, and then closed it's doors as well. When the original "Phil" went to open his store again, the second owner wouldn't sell him back the rights to the "Phil's Records" name - that's why the current, and only existing location on US 27 is called "Phil's Music & Memories" (although interestingly enough, Phil still owns the rights to and uses the www.philsrecords.com web address.

Queen City Avenure sounds right...and I totally forgot about the Florence Phil's! ...I bought my first Doors CD there.

Only been to the latest location a couple times, but one of those times I found a bootleg vinyl concert set by Neil Young from about 1983, so I would say yes. However, it's likely not to the extent it used to be, considering CDs are a dying medium and there's just not as much bootleg vinyl to be found these days.
