Russell only gives up about 40 ppg, and have only given up 70+ twice. Both times, it was to Boyd County. Savannah Wheeler and Co. can score with the best of them. Especially, when they're hot from long range, like they were tonight.

The Lady Lions started the game on a 7-0 run. Russell reeled them back in, but, from that point on, every time the Lady Devils would tighten the game up, Boyd would respond with a big shot (usually a 3 by Paynter, Shears, or Wheeler) to ignite a mini run to put the Lady Lions back ahead by 5 or 6.

Russell just hasn't quite found a way to get it done in crunch time against the other elite teams in the 16th Region this season. But, make no mistake, Russell is right there, nipping at the heels of Boyd County and Ashland. Despite being a combined 0-4 against those two teams, the Lady Devils are still a force to be reckoned with in this region. I don't mean to take the districts for granted, but Morehead’s going to be hotly contested.
