article Region 1 Rankings (1/25/16 Week 8)

Remember these rankings will be based on current play and not just the record or one good/bad game. Both of the top teams won their tournaments this week and continue to prove they are the best in Region 1. Here are the rankings as of 1/25/16.

1. Paducah Tilghman (16-4)

The Blue Tornadoes won the Superman Classic in Carbondale last week and showed some nice muscle in doing so. They will play Mayfield and at Marshall County this week. I don’t expect them to lose either game. Looking forward to when PT travels to Graves Co on Feb 2.

2. Murray (16-4)

Murray won the Region 1 All “A” Classic easily and will now move on to the state All A tournament. They have done nothing to show they deserve to move out of the 2nd spot in the region.

3. Graves (12-7)

Had their 5 game winning streak snapped when they played Hopkinsville. This was their largest loss of the season. They will play Calloway and McCracken Co this week. The game against the Mustangs will be big for both teams. Graves won their first meeting by 6 points.

4. McCracken County (14-4)

The Mustangs defeated Marshall County in the rematch solidifying their hold on the 4th spot in the region. They will have a chance to move up and take back the 3rd spot if they can defeat Graves County on Saturday.

5. Marshall County (11-8)

Lost a close game in the McCracken County rematch. They hadn’t played for 9 days so they will have to get back into the swing of things. They will play Lyon Co before hosting Paducah Tilghman.

6. Carlisle (12 -4)

Played Hickman Co much better this week and defeated them soundly. They also defeated an improved Mayfield team before losing big to Murray in the region 1 championship game of the All A Classic. They play McCracken Co. and Mayfield again this week.

7. Hickman County (6-11)

Hickman lost their only game this week to Carlisle Co. This was their opportunity to move up in the rankings but couldn’t pull out a win. They will play Ballard Memorial and Fulton City this week, both winnable games.

8. Ballard Memorial (6-12)

Ballard Memorial defeated St. Mary’s for a third time this season. They then lost handily to eventual All A Class Region 1 Champion Murray. They will play an important game versus Hickman Co this week to see who will be the 7th ranked team in region 1 next week.

9. Calloway County (5-12)

Did not play last week due to weather, but is scheduled to play Graves Co and Caldwell Co this week.

10. Mayfield (5-10)

Won against Fulton Co in a big win, then lost to Carlisle Co in the All A Classic region semifinals. They will play Paducah Tilghman and Carlisle this week. Should put up a tough fight, but will be the underdogs.

11. Fulton County (5-11)

Lost to Mayfield by a surprisingly large margin. They will play Ballard Memorial and CCA this week.

12. Fulton City (10-11)

Hello Bulldogs! Big win against St. Mary and defeated Christian Fellowship twice. They also fell to Murray and Hickman Co. They play Hickman Co again this week along with Greenfield, TN.

13. St. Marys (9-12)

Loss for a 3rd time to Ballard Memorial and then turned around and defeated Livingston Central in a dominant win. They don’t play this week..

14. Christian Fellowship (4-15)

Lost to Lyon County in the Tri River Tournament. Will play Carrol Academy, TN this week along with Burgin.

15. Community Christian (1-15)

Were defeated handily by Fulton Co.

Mathis from Graves is really starting to put together and have the kind of year I thought he would. Should be getting top 10 player in region consideration.
