  1. I would bet that there are several coaches who total over 100k. Those in administrative positions can make 50-70k or more for that part of the job. Many are also named Director of Athletics which adds an additional 10-15k and then there is the coaching position that can add 2500 (Louisville) - ??? . Some schools base the coach's salary on a % of their teaching pay. Some have a flat rate. Most of the better coaches also make some money working camps. When you add it all up, they can make a pretty good hunk of cash, but when you add up the hours and the high profile nature of the job (where else are you second guessed on every decision you make?) it seems to me that coaches earn their $.
  2. Seems to me the 10th had to choose between playing on the same night as the 10th region girls tourney, the 1st day of the girls state tourney or playing on the same night as church. Good decision by the powers that be.
  3. Coach Campbell told me he was looking forward to coaching his boys. I think his plan is to take the boys with him and the moving or staying is still up in the air. He is one INTENSE dude. The Eagle football players will be strong and they will play hard. You all got a good one.
  4. Josh Clark v/s Nikola should be a great battle of two warriors.
  5. A funny twist... For the district tournament the MCHS administration moved the home side to the visitor side. I don't know why, but I believe that part of it was to eliminate confusion for the Montgomery fans who have season tickets. Now that Montgomery Co is the bottom team in the regional bracket, our fans are back on the side they were on during the regular season only now we are the Visitors. That's funny stuff.
  6. Best tournament all things considered - Sweet 16 Best basketball games, talent, competition - 11th Region
  7. There have been two pretty good crowds out of the 4 games so far. GRC - Campbell was a pretty good crowd Montgomery - Pendleton was a pretty good crowd Mason - Deming and Scott - Augusta were pretty weak numbers. Maybe it's just that the MCHS Arena is so big the crowds just look small.
  8. Boys Final is to be played Tuesday night from what I understand... Girls games Semifinals on Sunday and Finals on Monday
  9. It was announced earlier this year that Bill Mike Runyon of Paintsville will retire at the end of this season and he is recommending Matt Ratliff be his replacement.

  11. Rebounds 61-29 Montgomery Co. Clark and Stephens both with double-doubles. Indians are yet to peak... I hope they get a few more cylinders clicking by this weekend.
  12. If this is true, that boy can't sit still.
  13. Kudos to the Stenzel Family for giving the best opportunity to their son. Kudos to the Clark Co. school system for allowing families to make decisions regarding "holding back" students - not making them feel like what they choose to do is "wrong". If he doesn't turn 19 by August of his senior year, Stenzel has every right to be a freshman this year. Other parents and school systems should take notes on how to do this the right way.
  14. I don't understand. Montgomery Co's girls drove to Campbell and Campbell's boys drove to Montgomery - there is no hour difference there??? am I reading this wrong?
  15. A lot of people seem to forget that people have been turned away from the Fieldhouse before too. When Pendleton had their good teams several years ago many of those who drove from Mt. Sterling were turned away. That's just part of it. If you want a seat you have to get there early.
  16. Congrats to Ashland and Coach Biggs. With all the "stuff" that they've gone through this year it's good that they are having some success here at the end - when it counts. Congrats on a great year to Bath Co. and Coach Hicks. He's got some life back into a program that was struggling. Good luck to Blandon Clemons.
  17. I thought sure some Mason Co. fan would put Lofton on this list.
  18. Lady Indians roll. Keep it up girls. I'd like to hear some stats too.
