  1. This is a game that was re-scheduled because of snow. I hope the Tribe comes focused coming off a tough loss to Mason Co. It would be nice for them to bounce back with a win over a pretty tough opponent in the Flyers. Any thoughts?
  2. What about the kids who should have been seeded 2nd? If you think your team is inferior, you vote to draw so that you can screw a better team from advancing. Who is protecting the rights of the strong? The kids who go to bigger schools shouldn't be penalized because of this. The KHSAA should mandate that all districts are seeded so the spirit of competition is what it should be - COMPETITIVE. Not watered down for the poor wittle itty bitty schools to have the best chance, but a fiercely competitive contest where the weak go home and the strong survive. If someone can pull an upset, that's great! That's better than great, but the upset should take place on the basketball court, not through a lottery.
  3. The example you mention is just one of many questionable scenarios.
  4. I don't think it's strange, just because of semantics. It is possible to get a legitimate seeding based on actual head-to-head competition within the district. To seed at the regional and state level would involve polls/opinion rather than actual competition. I don't think anyone wants Cantrell or Litkinhouse making those types of decision.
  5. And any of the 3 could be knocked out during the DISTRICT tournament. The 11th is rediculously good.
  6. Dude, I've given the kid his props. He's a great defender and hustler for the Royals. I posted that he warmed up for informational purposes only. I thought some of the Mason fans might like to know that he did go through warm-up lines. Nothing more nothing less. You seem fairly passionate about him being the best . He's a good role player - which Mason needs with all the studs, but c'mon. Let's not blow it out of proportion.
  7. Not when you are talking about rankings. I keep harping on Cantrell for this very reason.
  8. What about the 3 Setty hit from the corner when it was about a 2 point game. It hit the rim and went up about 8 feet and fell in. It was pretty big and put Mason up 5.
  9. Yeah, but until then - we've got to have something to discuss.
  10. Congrats to the MC girls. After the tough showing at Bourbon, this is a solid bounce back win on the road against one of the top teams in the state. Anyone have stats?
  11. After only a 6 point win to a Montgomery Co. team that isn't currently in the top 25, they won't gain many points from this one.
  12. I think Mason might benefit from playing @ St. Pat. Hawaii one week, 250 seat Shamrock dome the next.
  13. Good for Coach Humphrey. He's been blowing people out all year. Cantrell won't like this score, but hopefully some of the bench got good minutes.
  14. The most prominant argument for this is the Richmond district. Madison Southern is usually the 2nd best team to Madison Central and they almost ALWAYS draw each other. There are a lot of kids who IMO have earned the right to play in the regional tournament, but because it's like a lottery ticket these kids are not given the chance they have "earned". I stand firm in my vote, weather it counts or not.
  15. You have confidence in the Royals if they were playing the Celtics! and you should. They are talented and well coached. :thumb:
  16. Butler is #11 in the nation because they find kids like this. He's an absolute stud, a great leader, a cool headed kid, and an intense competitor. This is a big win for Scott Co. They've had a tough year/tough schedule. Never count out the Cardinals - or Coach Hicks.
  17. Maybe it's just the competitor in me, but if I have a chance to earn the 2nd spot in the seeding that would be my preference.
  18. I disagree, I would say this is exhibit A of why it SHOULD be seeded. I don't even know who all is in the district, but the team that finishes 2nd in the district would have EARNED the right NOT to play Mason Co. in the first round of the district tournament. Those kids are the ones that are hurt by not seeding if they draw Mason and don't get the chance to play in the regional by luck of the draw, rather than by their performance.
  19. I agree, I was referring to another post that said Downing would have guarded Stull. I think he may have guarded Clark or even Rash, but not Stull. The Pasawt kid had a nice game in his place and he's just a FROSH I believe.
  20. Montgomery Co. played hard for sure. But it was FAR from their perfect game either. Stephens 1/7 FG, Montgomery was 13/22 from the FT line. Clark scored some points, but shot a much lower % than normal. With all that, the Indians had a chance going down the stretch. If Rash could have stayed in the game it would really have been down to the wire. Crowd was very good. I'd guess around 1700 or so. Band was there - good atmosphere for this battle. I agree that Downing would have helped Mason with their rebounding, but in the first meeting Middleton and #15 guarded Stull. I don't think Downing on Stull is the match up Mason is looking for. Mason has a great team. They know how to stay cool and win close games. Congrats to the Royals.
  21. What does "clean" mean? Does it mean that the students who are attracted to that school aren't big time athletes? Does it mean that if some stud wanted a bishop brossart education they would be "unclean"? Especially if that stud athlete helped them win a tournament or two.
  22. Maybe they should play this one in the Barn.
