  1. A nice win after a 12 day lay off for the Indians. Stephens leads Montgomery with 19 and 10, Clark has 13 and 8, Rash with 12 and 5 in limited minutes because it was senior night. Pettit leads Rowan with 21 and 8.
  2. Does GRC have any seniors? I thought they were all underclassmen besides Lewis.
  3. Roads - especially the main roads from Rowan to Mt. Sterling were pretty clear. Rowan didn't want to play this one.
  4. Thursday was not an option at GRC because of the play. I'm sure the start time was a consideration of those fans who will try to make more than one game per night.
  5. I'm with you on the tenure thing. IMO there should be no such thing as a tenured teacher. They should be just as subject to a "pink slip" as a 2nd year teacher. If they don't do their job - they shouldn't be able to hide behind the tenure label. So what do you suggest teachers do with a kid in middle school or high school that continually disrupts class and other students, shows continued disrespect to the teacher, other students, and school administration, and could really care less about any academic subject? When a kid disrupts every classroom he/she is in 99.9% of the time, teachers and other students should not have to put up with it. Teachers try all these motivational techniques and methods, but at some point the student needs to be held accountable for their actions so that other kids aren't hindered by this one. IMO, alternative schools can provide training in areas where kids have interest if they are funded and run properly. The sad thing is that in most cases, they are not.
  6. That's 4 minutes that Jared Carter or Mike Williams could be getting.
  7. This sounds like a politician who has never been in a classroom. You can lead a horse to water.... but you can't make it drink. The accountability should be shared by school, teacher, student, and parents. The current system is totally flawed and they are already watering down the original requirements to fit the levels that the kids are actually performing.
  8. I couldn't agree more - the problem with our educational system is that it is too tolerant of the kids who don't want to be there but their parents lose the monthly check if the kids drop out. It's a system that may seem good in theory, but in reality, it is a LOSE - LOSE.
  9. From what I understand, it's a new policy. An administrator told me that double headers can either have the same crew do back-to-back games or they can choose to have a 2nd crew sent to the site, but it will be a crew that is made up of officials not ranked high enough to get a single scheduled district game. Either way it is a disadvantage for the teams playing the 2nd game.
  10. Paintsville had good runs when they had John Pelfrey and then another good run when they had JR Vanhoose and Todd Tackett.
  11. So which game should be played second and take the weak officiating crew? The BBA has almost guaranteed that there will be no double-headers in district tournament play.
  12. This is all well and good, but if the play hadn't been scheduled, the format would have been Montgomery Co. v/s Paris boys on Monday @ Montgomery Co. Girls doubleheader on Tuesday @ GRC GRC v/s Bourbon boys on Wednesday @ Montgomery Co. Girls finals on Thursday Boys Finals on Friday *** The only thing that may have changed on this is if the girls decided to play on Monday and Tuesday to avoid the new BBA rule about getting the left-over officials if you play a double header. As you can see, the only difference for the family of 4 from Montgomery is that they would have spread the $ out over 2 nights instead of 1. It's not as simple as Mr. Manley would have people believe. I'm willing to bet he doesn't know all the facts.
  13. From what I know, that's the way it's been for a while now. The #1 seed plays on Monday and has the rest of the week and the opportunity to scout the other two teams during the Wednesday game.
  14. It's not worth it wireman. Don't make yourself bleed.
  15. Somewhere out there - Scott Hundley is smiling.
  16. That might be true, but only if we can play at our real weight and not the guru photoshop version
  17. It was cool that Neltner played so well, being a KY boy and all.
  18. Walls and Pettigrew would have scored more than 16 points in a half...
  19. They should have claimed that they couldn't make it to Nashville because of the weather.

  21. I think we are on the same page. The problem is that those who enforce Title IX are not on the same page. If the girls choose a set of uniforms that are $10 less than the boys, a school can get in trouble for inequality - even though it is quite FAIR. I'm all for the spirit of Title IX, but the letter of the law is flawed.
