No practice in Franklin Co. on days when school is cancelled. Another case of over-involved politics - that happens a lot in the Capitol city.
-
That was the first in a string of good offensive games for Rash. He put 25 on Western Hills. He's been playing great defense all year. That hasn't stopped as he held the guard from Franklin Co. to like 3/18 the other night.

Montgomery @ Pendleton is cancelled per the http://www.mchsbasketball.com web site.

Can you confirm the schools and fill in the blanks?

It is my opinion that the girls should be treated FAIRLY, but not necessarily equal. For example, a girls locker room shouldn't have urinals, just because they boys locker room does.

From the 10th Region: Russ Middleton from Mason Co. and Brandon Rash from Montgomery Co. are both very good players.

Campbell County 71 Harrison County 50
Plato replied to Hilltopper2005's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
They have to be considered one of the "2nd tier" teams with an outside chance. If you look on KHSAA Scoreboard, their losses are all to high quality teams. They've played a good enough schedule to be prepared. I agree mcpapa - when that bracket comes out and Mason, Campbell, and GRC are all on one side - that will be tough to come out of:D -

When the game was over, the Franklin Co. student section threw shoes onto the floor. It was pretty sorry through and through. I blame the refs for their lack of control of the game and the FCHS administration for their lack of control of the student section. In my opinion after the first kid was thrown out by the refs, security should have increased, but the two rent-a-cops just leaned up against the wall on the other side of the gym. I need to say that I don't think Montgomery Co. or Franklin Co. got more calls than the other, I just think that both teams were forced to try to one-up each other in the physical play because the refs wouldn't call anything and the most physical team was going to win. Congrats to the Tribe for pulling this one out. -

Rash did a great job on #22 Meyer, holding him to 2/18 shooting including 1/9 from the three. Montgomery outrebounded Franklin Co. 45-38 -

The refs let this one get WAY out of hand. Franklin Co's #50 was sent in with one thing in mind - be as physical as possible. He fouled every posession. He intentionally punched Stephens in the face on one shot. I buy that his collision with Stull was unintentional, but his laying on top of him for several seconds was not. Stull was out of line, but if the refs don't have control of the game, things like this happen. The worst part was that after the whole incident happened. Coach Chalk is walking off the floor, the refs are over by the table and #50 is walking toward Stull ready to fight and NONE OF THE REFS SEE IT. It was an ugly game to watch because of how physical it was. I'm really surprised that it didn't end up in an all out brawl. -
Bourbon vs. Paris 2/9/08
Plato replied to Deep 3 pointer's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Bourbon has been playing better of late. This game will determine the 3rd and 4th seed in the district tournament. Bourbon won the first meeting by 3. I believe I'm right that if Paris were to win by 4 or more they would be the 3 seed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think it will matter because I'm picking Bourbon by 8. -
IMO Title IX is a good idea that has gone too far. I know for a FACT that they came into one high school in Boone Co. after all the softball stuff and told the coach he couldn't keep his own personal microwave in his office unless the school provided one for the girls. They measured the sinks in both locker rooms to make sure they were the same height from the ground. It has done a lot of good for women's sports, but some of this stuff is rediculous.

I've seen it on several occasions this year (and again tonight in the UK game). A kid gets a foul called on him. The kid bounce passes the ball to the ref who called the foul and the ref gets offended because he wasn't looking and the ball hits him. I've even seen a kid try to hand the ball to the ref and the ref gets offended and hits the ball away as if the kid is out of line. I understand that the ref has to report the foul to the table, but I'm not sure the kids do. Is the kid out of line for not knowing (I'm not talking about when a kid shows attitude)? Is the ref out of line? Is this something that needs to be addressed in the pre-game huddle?

Harrison Co. at Campbell Co. 2/9
Plato replied to cchs_camel_1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Talbot has made Harrison a MUCH more dangerous team. Harrison's zone v/s Campbell's tough man to man. I'll take Campbell because I believe in home court advantage. (and there is something to be said for trying to beat the coach that just left you.) -

and that two of them will hop on the big yellow bus and come to Mt. Sterling to play in the regional tournament this year. And that Simon Kenton will have to drive to Henry Co. It's really crazy how the area's population has exploded. -

I like it, but I don't see how you could break down by ability, not size. I thought Scott was a bigger school and Lloyd was pretty small. This format makes more sense than the crazy way the 10th region is spread out from the ohio river to Winchester. I nominate Mustang as an At-Large member of the KHSAA representing the BGP vote. -
