  1. There's been several mentioned as top players in region but how many of those have what it takes to go to next level. It's very hard to be a student /athlete in any level of college . Hope to see several go on to play on the college level. Best advice to all of them is to work hard in classroom as well as on the field. Hope they all have a great season.

Probably the best hands in the region since Chicago White Sox draftee Dustin Shafer from Russell. Peyton is aqn exciting player to watch and he makes his team mates better. Not sure he's in the same league as Shafer was , Shafer could do it all , hitting, fielding and what a arm , but is a real good player . Logan from Greenup is another that should be considered for player of year but saying that , there's several that could be added to that list. kstcu has a nice list of area players that any coach would like to have. Looking foreward to seeing and reading about them this season.
  3. I'm surprised that their isn't more names mentioned on here. Is that all of the talent in the 16th region? If so , it's not going to be a very good year for area teams. List some and what school they play for so we can follow their upcoming season.
  4. Does anyone know if they've started working on the field yet?
  5. Who are some of the best players in the 16 th. region this year. I've heard some say Martin from Raceland is one , but what others should be added to that list.
  6. Most scouts say that 4.0-4.1 is excellent from home to first , not many run under that. That is from the left side , which Martin hits from. The fastest runner that I've seen in a long time is Tolliver, now at Transy, he runs at a different speed than most. You could see the difference when he ran from others. Not sure Martin is in that class when it comes to speed but still a good player.
  7. "Peyton Martin is probably the fastest player in the 16th region. If there is one faster I`d like to know where. Peyton is 3.8 from home to first and runs the 60 in 6.8." I wasn't aware he had speed that Thomas Tolliver ( former Raceland player) had there? Very few have under 7.0 like few pitchers throw in the 90's . Great kid , hope he does well this year.
  8. The field needs a lot of work done on it, one of the worst infields anywhere. The park needs to know how to take care a baseball field ,it's more than cutting the grass or marking the lines . One of the best to watch a game . Hope they do it right.
  9. Ask any player or student at Ashland and they will say they like Coach Hart. Only some players or parents that isn't getting the playing time they think they deserve or not ,will say something against him. Coach Hart is a very good coach, just going through a hard time with an inexperienced team.
  10. Does your high school have a fall team or are players playing on a mixed team or none at all. What kind of schedule are they playing?
  11. Fairview practices on theirs as well. Not the best for a baseball field.
  12. Most fields around here get nothing done to them. Several fields have the football teams practicing on them. Boyd County's is one of a few, in this area ,that is well taken care of all year long. Those that do have their football teams practicing on them are in terrible shape when spring comes.
  13. That must be what most are saying when they say that somebody got a full ride to play baseball not just baseball money.
  14. Does anybody know of any player that actually recieved a full athletic baseball scholarship ? If so, do you know what all it covers?
  15. I keep hearing people say that someone got a full ride in baseball but is that baseball money or with financial aid ? Does any school give full rides in baseball?
  16. Congratulations to both. Should be an interesting year with everybody fighting for a starting spot on team. No returning players to deal with but will still be hard to land a spot on starting lineup. These two will do alright.
  17. With schools starting early now , the legion should change the dates that it has tournaments . Just isn't practical to hold games this late in year. The Jr. state started a lot earlier than the 18's and would've made it easier for the older players if theirs was earlier also.
  18. It could be because high school and colleges are are ready starting and hard for some players to make time to play . Danville had a very good team . They could've made some noise in regional.
  19. Couldn't make it to game. Who won?
  20. They will do well and be very important team players for their college teams. It sounds personal with some. This isn't the place to air something like this out. I just know both of the players and both are great young men. I too , wish them well in the future and I think they will do great whatever they do.
  21. firebird wrote:C) A couple of kids that may not have had the interests of the TEAM CONCEPT in mind before departing a few weeks ago. From what I heard you might be wrong if it's the two players that I think it was, both are very good kids and players. Team concept had nothing to do about them leaving team.
  22. I could be wrong. Danville looked very good today . Should be a very good game tomorrow.
  23. Looking forward to see Justin playing for Marshall . Great young man and really nice family. Good luck to you Justin.
  24. Paducah is best team in state tournament. Well coached ! Be hard to beat.
