Fall Ball

Featured Replies

Does your high school have a fall team or are players playing on a mixed team or none at all. What kind of schedule are they playing?

Knott Central doesn't have a team. They didn't have enough players.

Greenup county has a couple of fall teams or they have enough to fill two teams. According to their schedule they play Lewis,East Carter,Ashland,Fairview,Boyd,Lawerence, Huntington High, & Westwood. Greenup has quite a few players out for Fall ball around 20-25 kids. :D

Who coached these school team? It is my understanding that the HS coach, his assistants and any volunteer for the school team can not coach.

A coach of any sport may not coach his team outside of their designated season while school is in session EXCEPT after June 1st or the end of the school year. So, you are correct in that the HS coach, his assistants or any volunteers that helped the HS team cannot coach the team.

This really makes it hard for small schools, who need to play the most, to find someone to coach the team.

Don't think for a minute that the coaches don't have input or aren't around to influence what is going on.

I think GCHS staff and few other school coaches has been seen outside the fence taking mental notes.LOL

I am helping with a team .We have played 2 games .I have kids from 3 HS ,but most are from 1 school (8, who I am with ) .That coach was at the first game only to see a kid who wanted to play summer ball for him .He sat out of the way and only talked to us after the game to ask about that kid .

None of these coaches have spoke to me about anything regarding the fall team .I do believe some coaches do take part ,but not all of them do .

You are correct, not all do, but I know several that do.

OK, so who cares that the coaches are involved from whatever distance. What I want to know is what is expected by the coaches from a player during fall ball. It's a much more relaxed atmosphere. Are they trying new positions, new pitches, or a sun tan?

I believe so and often, gives them ideas for spring on who can/can't, in certain situations.

Pitching and catching, are always points of emphasis.
