STRIKE3 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Here is an article, which LRCW made me aware of, in the Ashland Daily regarding the renovation of Chattin Field, located within Central Park, in Ashland, KY. http://www.dailyindependent.com/local/local_story_304231758.html Former player Gary Wright has donated $125,000 toward the project. From the article....Wright was also instrumental in building the Centre College baseball field that bears his name. From the article....“We want to bring the existing dugouts closer to home plate and the bleachers closer to the press box area,” Mitchell (architect) said....The park is used for Rose Hill Christian’s high school team and Ashland Post 76’s two summer league teams, along with fall baseball. If you see Mr. Wright, please thank him for this generous gift. Outstanding gesture and wonderful story. photo from John Flavell / The Independent
Pat Dad Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Great to hear! There needs to be a few more like Mr. Wright. There are a lot fields that need some work and need the funds.
bc65 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 The field needs a lot of work done on it, one of the worst infields anywhere. The park needs to know how to take care a baseball field ,it's more than cutting the grass or marking the lines . One of the best to watch a game . Hope they do it right.
cudarat Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 This is great, this park is one of the best places to watch a baseball game.
RamBackstop8 Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I used to love to play @ Central Park. We had some battles w/Ashland during the high school season back in the day. I can still remember Juan Thomas hitting a pitch off of me that probably hasn't landed yet.
bc65 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Does anyone know if they've started working on the field yet?
KIDS FAN Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Awesome to see. Don't know the man but like him just the same. Hope the City of Ashland and surrounding communities let him know how much it is appreciated. Played legion ball there and it will be nice to see.
