The way this game started, I thought Nelson was going to run away with it. Cards led 21-7 behind the arm of backup QB Dylan Beasley, who threw three TD passes in the first quarter. Score was 27-21 at the end of one, though, and Meade County rolled after that. It was, without a doubt, the longest first quarter I've ever experienced.

Final was actually 56-34, JS. Meade County had 793 yards of total offense, with 630 coming on the ground. Rex Liverman ran for 360 yards and two TDs on 20 carries.

Some bands, at least in this state, choose not to have a marching band based on political reasons (yes, they do exist in the world of marching band ... I did it all four years in high school). And some are just so small (Fort Knox, for example, has fewer than 10 kids in its band) and doesn't compete or perform at halftime for that reason. And for others, it's money issues. They don't have the budget for all the uniforms and instruments, let alone a travel budget.

4 to 1? It was 2 to 1 (12-6). Fort Knox got away with a few penalties, IMHO, but North Oldham could have been called for a lot more than what it was. Also, "a good chunk" means more than just a half. Until about the end of the third quarter when NO scored a TD to tie the game at 21, Fort Knox had outplayed North Oldham. Neither team did much of anything in the fourth quarter, when Fort Knox's lack of depth (they dressed fewer than 20 players Friday night) began to creep up on them. I'm sorry if you took my comments personally. I didn't mean it like that. It's just one man's opinion, is all.

If they would have accepted the penalty, Ballard would have punted again. Since they declined it, they get the ball there. (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I simply thought Fort Knox outplayed North Oldham for a good chunk of the game, is all. And for the first half, that was true because Fort Knox kept the Mustangs in check.

They really shouldn't have won this one, to be completely honest.

Josh Kleber rushed for 179 yards and a TD on 22 carries, and Brandon Franklin had three TDs to help the Eagles upset 1A No. 10 KCD. KCD was up 17-12 at the half, Knox returns opening kickoff 85 yards for a score. Knox scored 23 points in the third quarter to go up 35-17. The game got ugly as far as flags -- KCD had 16 penalties, Knox had 11. Still, though, what a game.
