The field at Johnson Central is spectacular!!! That is an excellent football team. Leslie Co. just played like a deer in the headlights of a truck. They had the big eye right off the bus.

Leslie didn't look sharp in their first scrimmage. Their defense is young. Poor tackling affected the overall outcome of the scrimmage. The offense looked pretty good and will only get better. Leslie will hit you. If they don't do anything else, they will hit you.

I don't know if they have a home scrimmage on the 10th, but if they don't, Leslie Co. will be the first team JC plays on the new field. They will scrimmage the 17th.

Jordan Morgan and Dustin Miller from Leslie Co. Miller is a transfer and Morgan played behind Ryan Howard so he didn't get many touches. Both have had excellent off-seasons and are burning the clocks up. Miller has ran a 4.48 three times and Morgan has touched the 4.5's in a few runs. Behind a greatly improved, senior dominated line. These two will have great years. We saw Roshkopf from Lynn Camp, Christopher from Bell, Green from Cawood, a little of Fugate from Breathitt, Sezter from P-Burg, and Bowling from Middlesboro. To Me, Roshkopf and Bowling stood out the most. We put Earls out in the first quarter over there the first game and Bowling came in and didn't miss a beat. Ford was scared and fumbled every time he touched it, but Bowling was a load. Roshkopf is the man though. If he played anywhere besides Eastern Ky., he would have some really good offers. See the hole like no-one else. And a bunch of speed.

I was standing on the rail when Dudley walked up there from the track on the way to the field for stretching last year. The first thing he said was, "I can't get anybody to play me, so let's play next year and I'll come back over here." It just sounds like to me that Dudley's not real interested in playing at Home anyway.

Middlesboro lost Earls,Ford, Hoskins, and the linebacker #22. Thats a pretty big chunk of a team. As for P-Burg being so high, well, I can't figure that out either. I think Leslie Co. should be ranked ahead of both of these teams. But I guess these polls are all just popularity contests anyway. Heres mine: 1. Danville 2. Corbin 3. Newport Central Catholic 4. Tim Couch could have been first team all state as a Safety. This guy got offered a dual scholarship to play football and basketball at the University of Michigan. I saw the offer. It had both Lloyd Carr and Steve Fisher's signatures. He also was offered a basketball scholarship from Duke, UNLV, Illinois, and Arkansas along with many other schools. The easiest way for me to figure out the argument between the two is to reverse the rolls. Tim Couch got in trouble alot due to the lack of offensive linemen, and had to improvise alot. His athletic ability was tested alot every game. I just don't think Brohm had that kind of game in him. If Couch could have been able to sit in the pocket all day long, that would have been something to see. Also, Couch was a hell of a pitcher during his younger years. He was not permitted to play baseball. Coach Whitaker was the baseball coach his Junior year and he and few of the other players went out for baseball and Whitaker told them to get back up to the weight room. So he probably could have got drafted as well.

LEslie CO. didn't threaten to drop them, the contract ran out. Duduly came to Leslie last year and said he wouldn't care to come back over here.

I would just have liked to see Tim Couch play at Trinity. Then he would be the greatest high school football player ever. Tim Couch had 36 players on his senior year team. His go to guy, Ricky Hensley, ran about a 4.8 forty and had 80 catches. Its about making the people around you better and its about making them believe they can be successful. He did all of these things. I can't help but think that if Brian Brohm didn't go to Trinity, they would just plug another guy in there and he would have done the same thing. I mean, they win a State Championship with a 5'7, 5'8 quarterback? Thats the TEAM that makes the man there at Trinity, which is what its all about anyway.

Do what? Were you in attendance at Breathitt's playoff game against Leslie Co. last year? I mean, Leslie had a descent defense, and pretty much shut him down all except the one bomb he hit'em up for. So what do you think will happen to him when he's sees Florida on the other side? His biggest asset was the great line they had last year, and that inside running play behind the big Allen kid. They better find some linemen or this will not be the banner year they're expecting over there.

I think Jimmy Joe Morgan should have a break-out year this season.

Leslie Co. plays all three this year. The game at Leslie last year with Bell was one of the best games I seen all year. The district championship game at Middlesboro was a barn burner too. Look for the same kind of game in each of these games this year. This, as far as competition, is one of the toughest districts in the state in any class, in my opinion.
