Holding Grubbs and Miles to 9 each was huge. Stallman has been playing very good basketball. With the foul trouble Cov Cath was in he came in off the bench and did his job. This was a good TEAM win for Cov Cath.

I believe you are correct. Cov Cath beat Cooper yesterday right before the frshman final 4 was played.

They are good in football also. However, they did lose two very good football and baseball players in between 8th grade and freshman year. Dylan Doverspike and Tyler Wagner both now attend Beechwood.

You are correct. Cov Cath 48 Walton Verona 40. With WV scoring 4 points in the final seconds as Cov Cath was just trying to run out the clock and not taking very good care of the ball.

Beechwood battled hard. I believe they were down as many as 7 late in the 4th... maybe more. Scrapped and clawed to tie it with about 12 seconds to go. Then Holy Cross inbounds the ball to Houston and a beechwood player fouls him with Holy Cross in the double bonus. Houston makes both....ballgame. Felt really bad for the player that fouled in that situation. Coach probably should have called a time out as soon as they tied it to go over how to defend for the last 12 seconds. I guess the down side to using a time out there you give Holy Cross a chance to set something up. Tough call either way. The player that committed the foul is a VERY good player and has a bright future. All he can do is learn from it and move on.

They did miss some free throws in the first quarter but after that I thought they were good from the line after that. Anyone have free throw stats for both teams?

Walton is VERY good. They have very good guards that can shoot and move the ball very well. They have some big guys that can score inside and rebound. A very well rounded team that does a lot of things well. Very patient on offense and aggressive on defense. They have obviously played together as a group for a while. Oh yea, very well coached too. Does anyone know their record this year?

I have seen the rotating pitcher idea used before. A simple rule to say that You can only be a pitcher one time per game prevent it from happening. You could also go farther and say a player may only be used as a pitcher 1 time per day.

And I will add Holmes to the list of schools that could make some noise in the tourney. They have some nice players. Their coach did a good job of subbing players in to get experience. #33 is a big, strong, athletic kid.

#11 for Beechwood was their best player tonight. Anybody know how many points he had? How many 3's?

Yes. Yes.Yes and Yes. Very smooth player. Seemed like he had success getting around his defender and driving to the basket. Good looking shot and good from the charity stripe. I could be wrong but it seemed to me that he did not play as much as he could/should have. I know he recently moved up so maybe the Coach is still trying to work him into a spot. Kid has a bright future!

Is Jefferson #2?

This tourney is wide open. There may be a few down teams but for the most part anybody could beat anybody.

Very good basketball game. 2 good teams but Cov Cath is deeper and pulled away in the 4th quarter.

That is a bummer! I would have loved to see Campbell County in the tournament.

Holy Cross is a team that could beat any team in this tournament. They are well coached and if Spencer Macke is on he will light up the scoreboard. Ty Houston is another Holy Cross player that can score big numbers. With that said, St. Henry beat Holy Cross earlier in the season (maybe twice?). So do not go to sleep on the Crusaders either.

I have not had a chance to see them play, but I hear that Walton-Verona is very good.

I was not at this game, but I have been told by a reliable source that Vince started the JV and Varsity games.

There used to be a NKMSAA rule that once a player played in a high school game they were no longer allowed to compete in NKMSAA games. Is that rule still in effect?
