  1. Sounds like someone got a taste of their medicine. I can remember the days of the early 90's at Pulaski and how folks felt going to Somerset for a game. They probably felt a little bit like Pulaski seems to be feeling at the moment.:dancingpa
  2. Congrats to the Owls for not giving up--despite the foul trouble-- and coming back in the final period to pull out a win in Booneville. Way to go--JV team--you display a lot of determination, enthusiasm for the game, and commitment.Great job coaches!!! Happy New Year!!:dancingpa
  3. How about the JV team this year? The previous 3 years of JV teams-- of which all of these seniors were members--had not won a single game in 3 years based on information from "the faithful". So I don't know why you think this year should be good for the Owls --just because there are a lot of seniors on the team. Being a senior does not automatically assure you basketball talent/potential. Coach Noble's JV team has won 3 or 4 games out of the 5 played thus far--that tells the story of Coach Noble's coaching ability. And probably the story of why coaches have come and gone for the past few years.
  4. You must have someone that has the dedication and energy to build a program. I don't believe "the faithful" have run off any "Great" coaches--Charlie Turner, Larry Sparks and Tim Bobrowski stayed as long as they wanted and moved on to achieve other goals. In the most recent case--who could fault someone receiving an offer of advancement and thus leaving for ---a Grade 10-12 school of 1400 students with the potential for a slightly higher level of talent than a high school of 250 in grades 9-12.
  5. What are you implying with this statement? What were the other factors? You seem to know more than most.
  6. It's December--and you are talking about coaches leaving or staying. Owsley County has high expectations ---and so does Coach Noble. Anyone that knows basketball knows the Owls --even though the roster is composed mostly of seniors--currently have limited resources for guard positions and lack of experience in other positions. McIntosh did not play as a 10th grader--Reed did not play much in 10th and 11th grade--Evans is only a sophomore with limited experience handling the ball--but a lot of athleticism. A good point guard would make the Owls --IMO a winning team.--without one--they will struggle-- And by the way--Coach Noble is a class act ---he has proven he can win at the middle school level--and he will do the same at the high school level in Booneville given time---Keep the faith Owl fans, players and coaches!!!! Good things will come to those who are committed and dedicated to doing their best.
  7. The Professor is always right--He has forgotten more basketball facts that most people will ever learn.
  8. Looks like the Tigers let the Bobcats scratch their way to victory-- :madman:
  9. Congleton will provide all the spark that the Bobcats need when he takes the hardwood in the near future--?????Rumor was that he was going to play last night--is that what the coach said--or was it tonight against Jackson??
  10. The Owls definitely need some guard play that is effective and under control. The outcome of this contest would have been greatly altered --IMO--with some effective guard play from the Owls. So--I am sure it is frustrating for the players, as well as the coaches and the FANS!!
  11. Breathitt didn't shine too bright at Cordia in their season opener! :dancingpa
  12. You have to play the hand that you are dealt---Coach Noble is doing an excellent job with the cards in his hand. Definitely have superior talent on the post at the moment. The JV team is doing very well---defeated Estill County! Coach Noble has Owsley's young kids playing well- you can see the skill level rising! Congrats to Estill---Keep the FAITH OWLS!!!
  13. It would be nice if you knew all the teams in the 14th!!
  14. I am not sure how you come to the deduction that playing at Owsley will help the Owls. It seems like the Owls don't have an advantage regardless----
  15. Well--just so you know--Congleton transferred to Lee--then Breathitt over the summer--no longer an OWL!
  16. This kid is not eligible at the moment--there is a KHSAA process and it is not complete at this time!!
  17. Well Said Professor!! Both of these teams will win some games this year. Their players and coaches work hard!!
  18. Congratulations to Coach Noble and the Owls on their first WIN for 2007-2008! :dancingpa
  19. You are very correct. It did not help two of them at all. Case and point--that is why those two should be eligible and the one not--because the move to Breathitt was strictly for ATHLETIC ADVANTAGE!!
  20. What about your tranfer from Lee County? Rumor has it that he is practicing and his close relative is keeping time.
  21. That's for sure if you talk to the family---??kid is another story.
