Lee wins by 9 in a physical battle.

Good Win for the Bobcats, Shane Taulbee played big with 21 points and Jared Pelphrey controlled the inside for Lee. good win for Lee since we were shorthanded.

Lee seems to be improving with every game. Lost their first 3 games, now even their record with wins in their last 3 games.

 

Charles held to 11 (7 assists/5 blocks/ 4 rebounds) but the Owls left holes in the paint, often leaving Pelfrey wide open underneath. Taublee proves that he is a factor, and maybe a deciding one.

 

The Bobcats played solid team ball and pull off a good win in spite of the absence of Campbell. Soph. Gus Wise stepped up with 4 treys. Drake ran the point solidly too.

 

I wouldn't call it redemption from last seasons' district tourney loss to the Owls, but it ain't shabby either. The Owls returned most of their team from last year (-Congleton) while Lee lost every starter from last year. The Owls are senior laden this year (8 or 9 seniors) so will probably improve as the season progresses.

 

I wish Coach Noble good luck in his next games....I'm sure that he'll chalk up some "W"'s shortly as the Owls adjust to his style of play.

The Owls definitely need some guard play that is effective and under control. The outcome of this contest would have been greatly altered --IMO--with some effective guard play from the Owls. So--I am sure it is frustrating for the players, as well as the coaches and the FANS!!

Owsley County cut the lead to 2 points with a little over 2 minutes left in the game, but couldn't pull it out due to turnovers. Lee County was in front by 10 or more points front midway through the 2nd quarter, and Owsley had to play catch-up all night. They came close, but not enough to win. Pelfrey and Taulbee game up big for the Bobcats.

 

As far as players that saw a lot of action last year for the Owls, McIntosh is the only one back that started on a consistent basis. Reed quit the team early in the season, both Congletons are gone--one due to graduation and the other to a transfer, and Cam Mainous has been out all year and now probably won't be back due to a car accident last week. This team does have a lot of seniors, but not that much veteran experience. I do believe, however, that they will get better as the season progresses. Coach Noble will make the necessary adjustments to get this team where it needs to be.

What about Matt Wright, he's started alot of games in the past 3 years.

Matt Wright had a very good game last night too. He did a lot to get them close until he fouled out. I don't think he started all last season for the Owls, but most of it.

Just caught the end of this game. It seemed like Owsley County battled hard at the end of this game, but it just wasnt enough.

He started a few games last year but mostly was a sub for most of the season. Matt seems like he might have the ability to play some point guard. I'd like to see what he could do in that position.

Owsley has got to do something about all the turnovers. They're too many, epecially late in the games, and very costly.

I think early in the year they started Reed, Mcintosh, Brewer, Pierson, and Trey Congleton. Also, Mainous started a few games. Wright started some too. But Mcintosh, I think, is the only player to start every game last season.

I think the Bobcats will be a big factor as the season continues. I'm really impressed with Charles, Pelfrey (6'5) and Taulbee.
