14th Region Predictions

Featured Replies

What are everyones thoughts on the 14th Region? I love to watch highschool basketball and am going to be moving in that area. Can some of you give me your complete rankings of all 16 teams top to bottom so I can get some insight on how each team will be and make it better to pick which games I go to.

How far off is Hazard and PCC from being the top dogs and rivals in the region again?

Will Breathitt shine with all the talented players?

Is June Buchannen going to get beat with Stepp?

How far off is Jackson City from competing with Davidson?

Why dont Riverside just join the KCSAA like other small christian schools? .....

Perry County Central @ Hazard - Dec. 11, 7:30 pm

Hazard @ Perry - Jan. 28, 7:30 pm

JBS @ Clay Co. vs Lexington Catholic - December 14

Perry @ Breathitt - December 18, 7:30 pm

Hazard @ Breathitt - Jan. 4, 7:30 pm

Now Hazard will be in the thick of winning this 14th region,Coach Al Holland will have them in the mix,as for PCC i really dont think they are in top three teams at all so there you have my take.

Breathitt should be able to have a good team loosing Noble and Salyers will hurt this 10th grade class but should have little to do with us winning this year.

we still have good group of upper classmen in Travis Smith and Justin Hollon, mix in Channing Fugate (10th Grade) and DaKota Ritchie (10th Grade) and Jade Haddix (10 Grade) and Aaron Combs and (Maybe/Hopefully) Colby Fugate we should be one of top teams in region, but must remember most are still in football so first few games will be played without their best team on floor so dont give up on these Bobcats too quick, cause we will be there in the end.

Jackson City isnt far off BUT can you win with just one player, and yes he is a PLAYER,I really see no help, maybe Zack Gayheart comes on and helps a lot,

But Good Luck Tigers.

Riverside maybe dont want do that ,so we have to let them play where thay want to play, should be a better team,Coach Turner will work them hard and that means a lot.

What about your tranfer from Lee County? Rumor has it that he is practicing and his close relative is keeping time.

1. JBS: Returns every starter from last year's regional champion team. These five can play with anyone in the state.

2. Hazard: Coach Holland and Bell Co. transfers make them at the top with JBS this season.

3. Buckhorn: John Noble always gets the best out of his team and they have talent to go with it.

4. Breathitt Co.: Lost Noble to Owsley, but still very talented. One of the best big men inthe region if not the best in Smith (I think).

5. Perry Central: Lost some key players and coach from last season. However, too many good athletes in this school to not compete.

No of no kid from Lee transfering, one from Owsley did to Breathitt. He is a Jr.,but he has not been praticing. I do know that for sure. I am at their pratices, awaiting judge ruling, should and could be only one that gets too play this year.

I would like see all three get to play, shame they wont. Thats not saying I agree with their changing of schools tho,I cant see how its helped two of them at all, but thats my opinion.

1. JBS, no doubt, will be hard for anyone in the 14th to compete with them, they are going out of the region to find their competition this year.

2. LCC Banks is back and they have the athletes to play with anyone in the 14th except JBS.

3. Buckhorn has the players to take their district this year.

4. Hazard, will be ready come March, but do to their football team going the distance this year, it will make it hard for the dogs to win early, but Coach Holland will have them ready come tourney time as usual.

5. Knott, nice team, they play hard, have an inside game and an outside game. Lack a great coach, but he gets the job done and works hard with his kids.

6. Breathitt, good group of kids returning, Coach Banks will have them playing hard and competing for that district title against Jackson City.

7. Perry Central, lost some very key players and a great coach, would like to know what athletes Lightning is referring too? The average height for the school is about 5'7'', their center is 50 lbs over weight, and don't have a true point guard, the Travis kid isn't even playing this year so they lose some great speed there too.

8. Estill, better not under estimate the Engineers this year.

9. Jenkins, has a great player in Puckett, they play hard for Coach Johnson and get the job done, just in a hard district to do much.

10. Every one else is all tied up together, (Jackson City, Wolfe, Owsley, Powell, Leslie, Cordia) Will make for some good games in the 14th

You are very correct. It did not help two of them at all. Case and point--that is why those two should be eligible and the one not--because the move to Breathitt was strictly for ATHLETIC ADVANTAGE!!

Hey Cuz, You are always letting everyone know your opinion and that's your right, but you do know the true reason for the 2 transfering from Breathitt and let's get the story right. Nick for one is at my house a couple times a week with him and Josh going to the gym working out together. He has said that he wouldn't have played at Breathitt this year no matter what. And has for Josh let's tell all the reader's about Coach Bank's statement that know one like Josh at Breathitt. Now if that was your kid that the Coach said that about you wouldn't like it either. Josh and Nick is both 4.0 student's and Breathitt not only lost 2 good player's but also great student's, and that's the main important thing. And by the way these 2 may have to sit out the year but both will be free agents next year and anything could happen. But one thing for sure they won't be at your beloved Breathitt. By the way Toppledad, just a couple years ago these same kids was state runners up in the middle school losing the final game on a last second shot. But with these two players transfering and several others quitting, let's put the blame in the right place. You know toppledad we have been good friend's over the years and I'm sorry to hear about your sister and we have been praying for her and as we've talk before God is the answer for anything and that is how I've been dealing with everything. God bless you and I hope I havn't said nothing wrong.

It would be nice if you knew all the teams in the 14th!!

For anyone to say that JBS is not the heavy, heavy favorite to win the region is either kidding themself, or in outright denial.

The 8 teams going to the regional tourament, IMO, will be Knott County Central, JBS, Hazard, PCC, Breathitt County, Jackson City, Estill County, and Powell County.

JBS over Hazard in the regional final.

Not to mention, the Estill/Lee game was a blow out until late. He also left out Owsley county from the list.

Let keep this thread on topic...some need to reread the rules...:irked:
