I totally disagree with you sir, Scott County will probably win it all, but there are several quality teams in the field this year and I believe it will be a GREAT Sweet 16. How can you say it seems like a weak year, did you see anybody play besides the teams in Northern Kentucky. It sure appears that might be the case, because there are several excellent teams in the field this year IMO and I have seen several of them play.

I believe that June Buchanan and Shelby Valley are going to surprise some people at Rupp this year. I dont know if they will win a game or not, but the fans of Rupp Arena will not be disappointed in their play. I think Shelby Valley will beat Elliott County and I believe June Buchanan will play Warren Central very tough, and would not be shocked if they beat them.

I agree with you there Bubba, The RED Hounds and some RED Skins from Cumberland both have bright futures along with 3 or 4 more young teams in the 13th that will make our Region a very strong Region next year.

Hey Bubba, I dont think there is a referree anywhere in the state that would have called a hand check in that situation and I dont think there should have been one called either. As for Mr Ty Proffitt, he is probably one of the best if not the best pure point guard to ever play in the 13th Region. I know there have been more talented players, but as far as being a pure point guard I dont know if there has ever been one better, his and South Laurels record speaks for itself.

Because there is entirely too much personal conflict of interest, and that is a no brainer. You have referrees that live in the region, went to school at schools in the region, have relatives including sons and daughters playing in the region, I dont mean to be smart, but with all due respect, this is a silly question. I dont think the 13th region refs should do any District, Region or All A Region games in their own region.

I believe Corbin will play them much tougher on their home floor than they did in the district championship, but the big game experience South has will prevail 73-62

I think that Cumberland proved tonight they ARE an EXCELLENT team and WILL be one of the favorites in the Region next year, just like I said a couple days ago, and almost pulled off a great victory tonight. This was no fluke either, IMO Cumberland looked quicker than South and looked like they could play with South any time any place any where. Having said that, South is a great team and did what they had to do in the last 2 minutes to get the victory. If I am not mistaken Cumberland had a 50-49 lead with a couple minutes to go and South scored the last 7 points in the game. With an excellent point guard, a dominant big man along with 2 more starters, a sixth and seventh man, and another 6-4 220 pound athlete joining the team next year, LOOK OUT the Redskins will be a Force in the 13th region again.

Shelby Valley is a very good team and even though they are young they have too much experience for Pikeville, due to AAU and off season basketball, unreal how many games these guys have already played together. They have depth and a GREAT point guard, I have seen them 3 or 4 times and I enjoy watching them very much. If they take care of business they will be fun to watch at Rupp Arena

Bell County is the better team IMO. Corbin gets a little help playing in their own gym, but Ryan Whitaker will be the difference in this game, a close one I believe 68-60. The other Whitaker (Josh) will not get rattled by Corbin's press either, he is a very good young player with lots of savy for a freshman.

Dont be so scared there young fella, the Red Skins wont be scared you can count on that.

Hey Les, sorry about the Goober comment, it was actually all in fun. I looked at the Uber thing and it just rhymed and I didnt think it would be looked at so serious. As for the matchup, there is no doubt it will be a tough matchup for the Skins with South being a big favorite, but I believe Cumberland will show up and give a great effort, one that everyone will appreciate.

I think there are a lot of excellent teams in Kentucky, with Scott County being a truly great team. South is a great team in the 13th Region with Bell on the verge of greatness in the Region and Corbin and Cumberland are excellent teams in the Region IMO.

I guess your definition of an excellent team and mine differ a little. This team had a 3 or 4 game stretch of mediocre play, but they weathered the storm and their 8-2 tournament (including the all a region and state and the district and regional tournament) record is the one that I think reveals more about them than anything else.

Steve Wright and company is an outstanding group of coaches and that is why someone from their staff including Wright 2 or 3 times has been to scout Cumberland on about 7 occasions if my math is up to par. I think this staff probably has more respect for the Cumberland program than anybody else in the Region and that is why they are who they are. Hats off to South laurel and Cumberland they both deserve a lot of respect and good luck to to the winner throughout the tournament. I think we see now who the top 4 teams in the region are.

They did a pretty good job getting the ball up the floor against a good Clay County defense dont you think. They had 4 turnovers in the first 2 minutes of the game, due to nerves, then only a total of 10 for the game.

I think I remember in an earlier post you said you saw them against Clay County and that was probably the worst game they played all year, then you saw the Corbin game, a game that the big kid(Johnson) didnt get involved in, a game that was played a night after battling with Bell county, so I dont think sir, that you have ever really seen Cumberland's A game. I hope they will bring it to Corbin for the 13th region tournament and show everyone what they are capable of. If anyone had seen Clay County play against Pineville or the way they played against Cawood they probably surely wouldnt be able to figure out how they could have beaten Bell County. I am not saying this to down Clay County, but to make a point that teams have bad nights and sometimes you cant really get a read on their game unless you see them more than once or twice

This might be one of the most RIDICULOUS posts I have seen on here in a long time. To make comments like that about the officiating is just ignorant and I am sure if you polled 500 Cumberland fans they would say Bell got the best of the officiating, but the most disturbing thing about this is that a bunch of tough young kids fought their hearts out tonight and almost pulled of a great win and you have the nerve to get on here and cry like a BIG BABY and not even give one ounce of credit to the Cumberland team. People like you are a disgrace to the Bluegrass Preps website.

Billy Hicks is the best coach in the state IMO and to see the passion he has for the game and for his players is just awesome, I hope he gets another state title because nobody deserves it more than him.

Congratulations Pinevile and JD Strange, nice comeback from the rough start to the year. Dustin Day is a heck of a low post player and it sounds like he got a bunch of help in this game from his supporting cast.

I agree this Region is the best in the state, but I dont agree with the (with ease) part of winning 12 of 16 other Regions.
