Winning 7-0 in the last inning, after pitching a great game, only allowing 3 hits with 12 K's, plus a Pro scout at the game to watch him, He gets thrown out of the game. In the 7th he walked 2 gave up 2 dink hits and struck out 2 batters. After falling behind 3-1 to the next batter, the home plate umpire told the catcher to go out to the mound to settle him down a little. before the catcher reached the mound, the base umpire walked up to mound and said, SHUT UP AND PITCH. Everyone could hear him. The pitcher said calmly, Why are you disrespecting me, I haven't disrespected you? The ump said your out of here, and through him out of the game. I know he shouldn't said anything to the ump, but don't you think the ump provoked him? He never said anything to either ump the whole game, trying to keep his cool, knowing he had to make a good impresion for the scout. Raw deal IMO, any thoughts?

The other day, in our JV game a batter hit a soft line drive over the second baseman, that he had no chance of catching. The ump called Infield Fly Rule, and it cost us 2 runs. Bad judgement IMO.

If the catcher catches a foul tip, it is played like the batter never touched it at all. If the catcher misses the foul tip, it's played just like a foul ball.

Owen's 8th graders are weak, but they were needed to field a freshman team. 2 of the freshmen have never played before.:eek:

Owen County. Do you think they can compete with Campbell Co. ? Look at the difference in numbers.

We had 28 come out for baseball. One got cut and one quit. We are left with 26, 9 are freshmen and 8th graders, so they will all start, hopefully none of them gets hurt or sick.

I heard that Owen Co's Principle posted that the coaching job was open, and Coach U found out and resigned. If this is true, shouldn't they have fired him first ?

Coach U did resign. To get better, first, they need a coach, second, they need to pass the ball. They will have 15 seniors returning with great speed, but they cant get the ball in the air. Cox will probably be quarterback. He has a good arm but needs more time to throw. In my opinion, Owen's QB's never drop back far enough or step up into the pocket, just 2 steps back and thats it, no matter what pass play. Third, they will need leadership on the field. They will miss Jimmy Dalton, He was the man. They will miss Coach U as well. IMO the talent is there, I hope they get another good coach who will utilize their speed.

My Daughter plays basketball, soccer, softball, gymnastics, and is considering track next year when she gets into Middle School. Her choice, but next year will have to drop a sport or two because of conflicting schedules. 1 million miles of driving, but well worth it. She's good at all of them. IMO any kid can be great players in two sports, but they need to play them year round to be competitive, or play beyond High School. I ran into a guy saturday whose girl plays 10u softball in Louisville, they've had 46 practices already this year.

Owen had 2 shots at the end. What an upset that would have been. Niether team went to their bench much, and the Owen Co. players were in better shape. Ballinger is awesome, but forgets that there are four more teammates out there with her. I hope this pumps up Owen and wakes up Carroll, so the 31st District has a good show in the region. Congrats to Carroll Co. I'd like to see them in the sweet sixteen.

I think we need Middle School teams for baseball. The High School coaches should be more involved in Little League & Babe Ruth, as well as the players. I,m not saying every day or even coach a team, but maybe have some camps to go to, or just invite youth to a practice. Seeing older kids play might help to get them interested. The parents need to be more interested.

At our school, Football fans fill the stands every game, rain or shine, weather they win a game all year. The basketball fans only come when you're winning. Baseball fans are few and far between, no matter how well the team is doing. I hope soccer doesn't become our National pastime. Although soccer is fun to watch when your child is playing.

Gallitin Co. won't be a suprise to me. They have a lot of talent. The 31st District will be strong. Henry Co. should be pretty good. they have a good Jr. class. Pitching will be the key.

I,m glad Nunn gets to play after sitting out a year. He started every game for Owen Co. as a freshman, 3 HR,s good pitcher.
