IMO the best atheletes on the team. Not having your kicker, punter, and 2 best running backs, would have to make a little difference wouldn't you think? All 4 of them start at DB's also. CAL would still have won, but not a blowout. Owen Co's Offense has only 4 TD's in the last 8 games. So 3 pts. would get you a win

#1 Michael Ogden at Corner, and #22 Drew Howard at Safety have 11 or 12 picks between the two of them, and your not gonna out run them, so it should be some good matchups.

You are exactly right PlayMaker3. Hopefully Owen,s DB's get over their illness and the coach allows them to play. Otherwise Trimble could air it up all night.

I don't know of #32 and #34 ever running the ball. Did you mean #22 and #24? Or #19 and #37?

Oaks has a shoulder injury, Slone was sick. Ogden and Howard were also sick. That's the kicker, the punter, and kick & punt returners. All four are starting defensive backs. So they were hurting a little. As for the passing game, Cox was the QB. They never had a passing game all year. They have no recievers, and since the first game they haven't had a QB who could throw.

Their top 2 running backs, Oaks and Slone were not playing.

Owen Co. had 4 or 5 seniors out due to sickness or injury, which would have made a slight difference defensively.

There were some good teams that didn't go to playoffs back in those days. We were 9-1 in 1979 at Carroll Co. but the loss came to Bath Co. which would have sent us to the playoffs.

Does anyone have any game stats on Rose or Jacob Oaks? Oaks ran the ball very well for Owen.

True. Monday there was about 20 missing. Other than that one day and I watch them practice 3 or 4 times a week and there are only 1 or 2 missing each day.

They do know that they are under achievers and that they should do better and they are very upset about it. But, they haven't quit, although they've thought about it. They love the game and believe they can win.

When they get close, they either have a penalty or call the wrong play. They are very capable of putting points on the board. Friday will be a good time to do just that.
