76 actually. Our Defense should be better this year. If we could cut that number in half we could win a lot more of the good pitched games.

Owen Co. hit .305. Could have been a lot better. Team ERA was 2.45, which was decent. The 80 fielding errors cost us at least 6 games.

Like Michael Ogden of Owen Co, Scott Brown of Gallatin Co, Tyler Cox of Henry Co, Matt Allen of Carroll Co, or Jon Cain of Grant Co.

Anyone know of any 13 or 14u girls fastpitch teams having a tryout or interested in picking up an extra player for this spring/summer travel team?

I agree with all you said except the coach part. Obviously football knowledge is not required to coach at Owen. It's filling the teaching position thats more important.

The 7 on 7 team were not any of the kids that I mentioned. Most of them were playing summer baseball. The players he had on offense did not have any speed except for #20 Harris. Him and #22 Howard are as fast as anyone any where period. I don't know their 40 times but #1 Ogden ran a 6.7 60 yd last summer which is fast for baseball. Harris and Howard are faster than him. They just were not utilized correctly.

Josh Slone had 254 total yards the first game. The next game he touched it 3 times. The two best recievers, Ogden and Howard didn't even play offense this past year. Howard was the fastest kid on the team and was a RB and WR 3 previous years. When an assistant coach has to throw the ball to simulate a kickoff instead of a player kicking it its coaching problems. Owen Co. never had a PAT or FG all year. Don't you think a coach would have maybe practiced kicking once in a while, in stead of a coach throwing the ball for a kickoff? I've talked to at least 4 College Coaches about Owen Co. players playing for them but they couldn't contact them because our Head Coach wouldn't answer an E-Mail or return a phone call to them. How many kids on Owen's team could have a chance to play at the next level if only their coach would cooperate? Howard, Ogden, Slone, Kelly, Stafford and Snyder to name a few. Don't say that their wasn't any talent there. They were not coached very well. My son has 4 Colleges interested in him playing football. When they ask him for his stats or what awards he has recieved, he has to answer :Our coach didn't give out any stats or awards. Good thing for game film.

I watched Leatherbee play all summer. He can field it and hit it. I saw Josh Brown in the 8th Region Tournament last year. He killed every rally we had with his glove. He can stroke the ball too. Both of these players are awesome shortstops IMO.

None of Owen's problems were talent related.

I think so as well, but obviously someone told him 8.5. I'll find out where his info came from for sure. We have to purchase some new bats just for Middle School. This is our first year at Owen Co. to have a Middle School team. A step in the right direction for our new Head Coach. These kids are so small, thers no way they can swing a -3.

Our head coach said today that -8.5 was the size limit on middle school baseball. I'm not sure if thats our limit or where it came from but thats what we are going by.
