Surgery went well today. He is still in ICU recovering at 3:00 today, surrounded by family and friends. Hope to be released from the hospital around Wednesday. -

3:00 Russell vs. Augusta 4:45 Bracken vs. Harrison 6:00 St Pat vs. Fleming 8:15 Brossart vs. Lewis This is what we got. Because Augusta had most quarters lost. Fleming and Harrison tied with quarters won but Fleming won in head-to-head. -
Bracken Co. Loyalty?

Are you serious. Can handle a bad administrator but not a bad coach. Has everyone lost their minds on what SCHOOLS are there for. I believe they are there for education, not just for sports. Also, Polar Bears have had 36 winning seasons in the last 66 years. Only 1 in the last 8 years. The record for the last 8 years has been 70-142. -
Bracken Co. coach resigns.

Congrats to Coach Fite. His time spent at Bracken, while a challenge last season, was a wonderful experience. He has always been supportive of the people around him and it will be a tough loss for the Polar Bears after the past season. Whoever takes over will have some talent coming up and the Bears should be back in contention. -
Since these two teams haven't faced each other since January 26, 1979 it is hard to judge what will happen and how the game will end up. However, I will have to say that Augusta wins it, it will be a close one though, only by 7. Since the last time Augusta won a game at the Region was 1950 and in that year they beat Bracken in the first round of the district to go to the region as runners-up. History repeating?!?!

Bittersweet to watch the former team and alma mater go down to the new team. I am proud of the Bracken Boys this year and their season, they played hard and didn't give up. Coach Fite is one of the good ones. Coach Kelsch and the boys have been wonderful this season and I am glad to be a part of their program as well. Top notch bunch of students and staff, couldn't ask for a better ending to a great year.

While the night was different than the usual match ups between these two team from my point of view I am proud at the support of the fans from both sides. The victory was bitter-sweet but the game was amazing and I wouldn't have had it any other way. The PINK night put on by the Bracken FBLA was great and you couldn't have asked for a better game to make it exciting. Thanks to all who made it a success and thanks to the teams (old and new) for making this one another great game for the record books. -

Mr. Polarbear leaving Bracken
Polar Bear Facts replied to BEARFACTS's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Actually yes I was employed by Bracken County. As an academic coach, sub teacher, and as a full time employee to finish last year when a teacher left the district in the middle of the year. If you didn't notice my name is Polar Bear "Facts" I think I would know some things about my own employment. -

The appreciation from the recent AD's in the Bracken County system has been much better than in years past. Still the reason for the timer and announcer leaving has nothing to do with the AD not showing them appreciation. Sorry, its just not the case!! This thread is crazy, and as I said before the reasons for the departures are due to work and family, nothing to do with respect to or from the AD. And by the way I think I should know since I am the former Polar Bear timer who is now employed by Augusta and will be doing their stats this year. -

Well all good things sometimes come to an end. Mr. Polar Bear (PA) is leaving the program after 13 years to be the voice of the Saints this season. The Polar Bear timer, of 9 years, also took a job at Augusta and will be a Panther this year. Neither move was based on dislike from or disrespect for the athletic staff at Bracken County. The athletic staff (coaches, AD, etc...) have always been good to both of these guys and their moves from the program are based on jobs or a change of family situations, not the AD. -

Congratulations on a great season for the Polar Bears. This group of seniors have been great to watch and will be missed. Coach Fite came to BC and had a wonderful first year. Couldn't have asked for a better coach or group of players! Thanks -

Great performance from both teams tonight. The game was a great one to watch and very nicely played. Hinson and Kelsch are both great coaches and no one deserved to go home with the loss tonight. These two teams are pretty evenly matched and consist of great players. Sportsmanship between the two was wonderful. Kelsch came away with the win to go to the region two years in a row. This is an amazing feat for the panthers. Both teams have been great to watch all season long!!!
