I think that will be the case. I noticed at the end of last season, Etscheid played a lot of first base, which as good of a 3rd baseman as he is really surprised me, does it look like he might be there this season?

Who do you think will play in the infield this season, will these two play up the middle or will Logan Carney play 2nd, where he does a great job. I am sure Etscheid will play 3rd, with O'Hara there when he pitches.

Ok, you got me, I enjoy you guys and the poking of the fun. Sometimes it gets ridiculous, but it is a fun read. I have a bad habit of trying to keep the peace. From what I have read in the past, everything with the exception of the Krumme comment, even though that was really clever, was probably deserved.

I also was surprised by his reaction, always biased, but fair. But remember one thing guys, these teams may meet again if things fall that way in the region and you better enjoy this one, because you can bet it will be returned to you tenfold if CCH wins the next one. The proper thing to remember though, take your beating, don't make excuses because all teams play shorthanded sometimes, that is why you carry more than 9 players, and someday that beating may come back to you. IMO for this game we give the Ryle boys the credit they deserve, but I still think CovCath wins the region.

Sometimes a battle between two very good pitchers is a whole lot more fun to watch. Nice to hear Owen Co. played some defense behind Michael. Congrats to both guys, looking forward to seeing more of this kind of pitching in about 3 weeks out of these two.

Are we sure this is the way it went down and why would any coach set his kids up to look bad and no it is not appropriate to curse at any kid, there are other ways to get your point across.

Wow, a little harsh, don't ya think? Not to say that CovCath's schedule is not tougher, but as Bulldog said, there are a lot of reasons for that. I personally think that before we post, we should sometimes take off our "homer" hats. This kid can flat out play and Coach Sanders is very lucky to have him, as I'm sure any coach would be. He still has to swing the bat and make the plays to put up these numbers just like Maile and Farris, who IMO are the two of the most talented kids around.

I don't think overrated is the correct choice of words, underachieving would be better. This team is very talented, somehow that talent has come in bursts and has not been consistent. A big problem is a lot of these kids don't have confidence in themselves right now. I don't know why, maybe a positive word instead of having to worry about every at bat or error costing them playing time might help. This is an outside observation, unlike most on here, the "homer" thing is not playing into this.

I just talked to Ashley at the park and she said that if you pay for the first game you can hang around and watch the second one too.

It's great to see Josh doing well. He sat behind Cory Farris for the last couple of seasons. With First Base opening up, he has taken full advantage of that. Could not happen to a better kid with super parents. I would have thought Houlehan would have had about 15 decisions by now. He will be lucky to lift his arm by district time.

Sounds like there might be an personal situation here. You should never let a personal issue change the way you look at a kids talent. Michael Ogden is a very talented left handed pitcher. He has a good fastball with nice off speed pitches to go with it. When he is hitting his spots, he is very good. He sometimes tries to take too much on himself which can hurt him. He plays for the Ky. Kings summer team and has done a good job against the better competition as well.

In this situation, I walk him, especially now with him leading off. No offense to the kid hitting behind him, he is having a great season, but he is not Maile. Most coaches would say, "I am not going to let one player beat me". I am of that belief. But with nobody on base, just pitch him carefully and if he wins that at-bat, more power to him. He is a tremendous player and deserves every bit of praise he gets, although some of the homers on here do go a little overboard.

Way to go Joe! Patience from Coach Roesel finally paid off. He just needed to relax and not worry that every pitch would be his last this season. Confidence breeds success and confidence is what he needs. The pressure to not be able to make a mistake can kill a players confidence and I truthfully believe that is what has held this fine young man back. He is a very talented pitcher and third baseman, unfortunately for him, Etscheid has been tremendous at third and at the plate. But if he stays relaxed, he is definitely capable of helping Ryle finish this season strong. I can't wait to coach this kid this summer.

I would say I will probably have him playing all 9 positions before the summer is over. He can play anywhere. Very talented junior.
