Scott 4 Ryle 4

Final. I heard the teams aren't finishing it leaving it as is. One of the stranger things I have seen, Adams went for the eagles.

Game went for 9 innings. In my opinion I think Scott played the better game than Ryle, but just shot themselves in the foot a couple times. Besides that it was a very good game between very similar ball clubs, good job boys

Ryle started freshmen Friedel (sp) at short and soph Logan Carnie at second and I thought they made a great statement at how strong the Raiders will be in the middle infield for years to come. Very strong 5 innings for Cory Rieder who threw harder and had better control then Adams, who went six.

Happy to see that Coach Roesel had confidence in Joe Renda to come into a tie game and throw a strong couple of innings. Etch closed it out in typical fashion. All 3 Raiders pitchers pitched their way out of a couple of jams that could hav changed the complection of the game. # 8 came in and pitched 3 or 4 strong innings for the Eagles. Both teams hit the ball hard at times, just right at the D.

Roesel no doubt has to be very happy to see Renda pitch like everyone knew he was capable. He was throwing very hard and threw a lot of strikes, even with an ump who at times seemed to really squeeze the plate for all the pitchers. Ultimately, a couple of Ryle offensive miscues late in the game really came back to haunt.

Why did this game end in a tie???

Way to go Joe!!!!:ylsuper: Great kid who is just gonna get better.

Adams had done something to his back about a week ago while he was pitching in the NewCath game and, if you noticed, you could tell it was bothering him the whole game while he was pitching from the way his mechanics were and what he was doing between pitches. This isn't the Adams Scott fans are accustomed to as he throws much harder and has much more control than what he showed. Hopefully his back situation gets cleared up so he can get back to being his normal self. I also feel bad for him as when he went to first base when he left the game he got cleeted 3 times in the ankle. There is no excuse for that as he was clearly on the edge of the bag and I don't believe the Ryle players are dirty at all but they were just running to the inside instead of the outsisde part of the bag.

Why did this game end in a tie???

Testing is currently going on at Scott high school and about half the kids would be do testing the following morning so they said the 9th would be the final inning so as the kids could go home and get some rest.

In the words of Bear Bryant, A tie is like kissing your sister!

While no one wants to see anyone get cleated like that, I don't think the blame fell to the Ryle runners. In fact, after the last incident, the umpire specifically showed the 1Bman that he had his foot on top of and in the middle of the bag. One would think that if Ryle had a tendency to run to the inside of the bag and make contact with the 1Bman, it would have showed up well before the middle of their season. You can't ask runners to run to the outside edge of the bag or you are asking them to risk rolling their ankles. But, I do very much agree, that whatever happened was in no way malicious or intentional.

Got it. It's a LONG bus ride between Ryle and Scott High!:D j/k

The only time the 1Bman had his foot in the middle of the bag was the 2nd time he got cleated when he had to jump up for the ball and come back down on the bag. I talked to him after the game and he told me that Ryle's first base coach said that his foot placement on the bag was fine and in the right place and that the runners were just clipping him. And this was the 1st time, I believe, that this has occured to Adams in his varsity career at Scott so whatever did happen, he was able to walk it off and continue playing.

Two seperate palyers stepped on Scotts' players foot a total of 3 times, if you follow Ryles' Ball team you would know that one of the players has done this on more than 3 occasions this year alone. Make your assumptions from that.

I have been to almost every game and don't remember one time that this was a problem prior to last night, so if you could do us all a favor and name these occasions since you seem to know so much about Ryle. I will also tell you that if Coach Roesel even had an inkling that this was intentionally going on with one of his players, you can be assured that it would be a long time before they ever saw the diamond again.

Great to see Renda pitch the way he did. All the fans were behind him. Great job Joe. He now has the confidence and will be a real assett.

Now we need some hard hit balls to fall or get through the infield. Alot of good still to come for the Raiders.
