Hey since I'm going to be working the games in the pressbox, I thought I'd let everyone know that this weekend will be a baseball lover's dream out at Champion Window in Florence, Ky.

 

The Freedom have decided to have a high school baseball invitational event this year with two teams from Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio each. This years teams include:

 

Kentucky

Boone County Rebels

Ryle Raiders

 

Indiana

East Central Trojans

Lawrenceburg Tigers

 

Ohio

LaSalle Lancers

Elder Panthers

 

 

This event will take place over the course of three days and will include six games total (2 on each day). I also wanted to mention that Northern Kentucky University will be having a home series against Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday and Sunday as well. The game schedule looks like (including the NKU games):

 

Friday

6:00 p.m. - Boone County/Lawrenceburg

8:30 p.m. - Ryle/East Central

 

Saturday

11:00 a.m. - NKU/UWP game 1

~1:30 p.m. - NKU/UWP game 2

6:00 p.m. - Elder/East Central

8:30 pm. - LaSalle/Lawrenceburg

 

Sunday

11:00 a.m. - NKU/UWP game 1

~1:30 p.m. - NKU/UWP game 2

5:00 p.m. - Elder/Ryle

7:30 pm. - LaSalle/Boone County

 

 

Before I forget to mention anything, I'm not sure about the admission for the high school games but the admission for the NKU games is SEPARATE. I thought I'd add those games in there in case anyone wanted to make a day of it and watch four baseball games.

 

 

Now on to the question portion of this thread.....

 

So what does everyone think about this event? Will anyone from BGP-land be going to any of the games and if so, would you want to meet up and chat for a few minutes prior to any of the games?

 

Oh and for those BGPers from Buckeye & Hoosier land, what can we expect from the teams representing your state?

East Central usually has a solid baseball team and beat Lawrenceburg earlier this season. I haven't made it out to any of their games this year, but would think they should be competitive in their games. EC's ace is Mitch Strobl and thier #2 would probably be Kyle Bishop.

Mike Schum was their ace last year, pitched for the Kings in the summer. We took Kyle with us for a Nashville tourney and the poor kid got bombed.

 

Gave up back to back johnsons, walked the next batter and that was pretty much it for the rest of the tourney. Nice kid though, at least he could laugh it off.

Too bad it is the same weekend as the LIT, as I would love to go see these games, but the LIT has the cream of the Commonwealth teams playing in it this weekend from all over the State.

How much is admission for these games?

For the NKU games, it's $5 for general admission, $3 for NKU faculty and staff, and free with NKU student ID.

 

For the HS games, it will be $5 for adults, $3 for students and children with youngsters 2 years old and below admitted for free.

 

This will a great weekend of baseball if you're a true baseball fan.

I just talked to Ashley at the park and she said that if you pay for the first game you can hang around and watch the second one too.

I wasn't meaning that each game of the high school event had separate admission costs. I just assumed that everyone that saw this would think the ticket prices were good for both games. As for the NKU games, I would also assume that you would have to pay for those two games and if you wanted to watch the HS games, you'd have to pay again.

 

I'll be attempting to provide live updates for the games tonight since there are two KY teams being played so if you can't make it out to the games, I'll be letting everyone know ho each half inning went.

I might be able to make it out on Sunday for the HS games as I will be playing over at NKU Saturday and early Sunday. Good luck KY.

Well Elder (OH) showed why they're the best team in the GCL not too long ago.

 

The Panthers defeated East Central (IN) by a score of 12-2 in 5 innings.

Oh I could, but I just might be sleeping on the couch on Sunday night, if I spent another day at the ball field on Sunday, especially with going to the Derby Classic at Boyd County this weekend.

Lawrenceburg defeats LaSalle in the second game today.

 

I thought LaSalle was going to win this game but Lawrenceubrg came out fired up and played a better game.
