What if a school in the southeastern part combined. They had 6a numbers and had to drive almost 3 hours to play a district game. Around 4 for the longest. Would you let them play down because of travel? Same circumstances but it wouldn't make it right. Right, wrong or indifferent I just think it should be straight across the board.

You are correct. Somebody will always be unhappy. Agree or disagree, Its just my opinion that if you are going to go by numbers than everyone should go by numbers. Play in the class you are placed or play all the way up in some kind of super class or something. I would guess they are a few more than just Cov. Cath and Highlands but I could be wrong. I don't have a solution as to what district to put them in, I am just saying that if you are going to have a system then go by it. If not then come up with another plan.

All schools should have to play in the proper class. Divide them up by numbers and play in the class you are suppose to. I would like to see a list of all schools who do this and another list where they should be and see what it looks like? If teams wanted to play up let them play in a super class or something and divide and play with the other teams.

Its not what you do, its how well you do it. I am not a big fan of the wing-t but they are a lot of very good teams who run it and win state titles on the high-school level. Out west and down south there has been numerous titles won in high school football running this offense. Coaches take the wing-t and have changed it adding and subtracting here and there. Now days you have base wing-t ( Delaware) mostly option wing-t, spread and throw it wing-t, power wing-t and on and on. Nothing is new in football just borrowed and added to. Wishbone, spread, option, wing-t, Pro I all have won many titles, so again it isn't what you do it is how well you do what you do! I remember watching Fern Creek's wing-t teams back in the 90's and I must say I enjoyed seeing them play. JMHO

A lot of coaches would disagree with you out in Calf., Penn. and down south.

I would take Greene and Smith on my team anyday. Greene has unlimited talent and I like the way Smith plays. JMHO:banana:

:flame: They have always had great facilities and it is great playing at Whitley and I am all for them to improve it more, but they will have to do a lot to be one of the best playing sites in southeastern Kentucky. Pike County has done tremendous as far as all their sites and then you have Letcher Central. Throw in Johnson Central and thats some pretty good company. Good luck Whitley and the Entire Southeast part of the State. Our kids deserve it as much as anybody!

First thing coach should do is close practice. Les, nor anybody else, should be at practice. Secondly, he should concentrate on the kids he has that has made a commitment to be on the team and forget about those in the bleachers. Third, he needs to be able to coach the team and all those things it requires. Finally, the parents need to support the coach or simply move on. It just doesn't work any other way. The parent part includes such things as play hard, have a good attitude, listen well ( be coachable), be focused, be at practice ect. Parents be parents and let coaches be coaches! It works much better.

In theory you might be right. However, unless the offensive tackle is pulling he is going to make contact with the D-tackle because everyone is jumbled in their shoe to shoe. The main thing that hurts the wing- double or single or wing-t is penatration and as the d-tackle attacks it is going to cause contact with the offensive tackle even if he is blocking down. So the tackles are engaged and then the cut block comes from the TE in which it now becomes illegal because the coach on the other side is yelling his head off. As far as the comment about the wing cutting the tackle the fbz is set up where you can't enter and then cut. So a back who is not lined up in the fbz can not come into it after the ball is snapped and then cut a down lineman or even a LB who is filling the hole. Questions come about this rule often because the fb is lined up right off the tail of the qb. I have seen him be allowed to cut but have also seen it the other way too. Having said this the double wing is based on a double team at the point of attack and most often it is a double team with the tE and Tackle. Everyone knows this so when it isn't a double team and the ref sees the TE cut the tackle it is almost always a flag because of memory. I have seen the double wing ( true) double wing more than you can shake a stick at. I love to watch the single-wing, double w and the wing-t. Just hard to find kids willing to except this offense now adays.

I love the double wing. My question would be how could your end block down on the tackle and cut him with shoe to shoe splits and the offensive tackle not considered a post man. Which in turn would make it illegal?

Let us all in on these issues, we might of had the same problem?

Will they open this Job up to all applicants. Are there any assistants on staff who are interested and qualified? This is interesting.

I would guess it had to do with the family and their choosing to enroll in the county. Looking back at the administration during that time I doubt they had an influence. Just my guess. The 85 team looks tough to say the least.

Running the wishbone or spread in high school has less importance than one would think as far as trying to get to the next level. Scouts are looking for motivation to get it done in the classroom first. Secondly, they look at the frame a kid has and his potential for gains. His speed and agility are very important. You must be able to run to play at the next level. Attitude also plays a key role. All this can be seen no matter if you run the single wing or the west coast. However, college to pro is a different story?

I forgot the best one of all from the Harlan Surprise. Its a big ole good one or a good ole big one?

To big of an age difference in the lower grades? effect on test scores? John and Sally might not get as much time on the field and court as before? I have heard all these before but really don't have a clue as far as the reason behind Harlan's decision.

Well we meet again papster! I was being sarcastic. I do know a little about ADA and the contract. I know all about tuition and state money. The way it would be "choosing students" would be if students were to be moved up and down the list according to the individual's positives or negatives and the impact on the school. However, we all know that Harlan wouldn't do this. Also, tuition could be waived for a certain student or students all together. Again, Harlan wouldn't do this. But if this were to be true than we have choosing students. Why does everything have to be a war with you? If I tell you how great Harlan is will you be my friend? You don't have to stretch the truth for more friendships. I am here for you big guy. Stay positive and stay the course it will all work out in the end.
