I don't fully understand the rule about missing a year of eligibility in the middle school? what rule and who changed it. Back to your thoughts on the high tuition? Wouldn't this affect the middle school students or are you saying the tuition doesn't affect the lower grades? Or could it be that the tuition is just a smoke screen to only accept and or weed out the kids they don't won't. From what you are saying the city uses this tuition bit to attract whom they want to educate. If schools get to choose the students it seems to me that would be an advantage? A huge advantage over those who must take all? You just got me thinking from your last post!

Anything can happen but that is highly unlikely. !st why would someone travel across the mountain to arrive at basically the same thing they are leaving for? Next, I don't think those kids are going to do this and then sit out a year of ball. Finally, you have so many more opportunities right at your finger tips along with Larkey as the coach. From what I am seeing things are going as planned and are coming together. So as far as a difference for the Dragon's next year I doubt they need to count on the county. Where they are going to benefit if at all is going to be in the lower grades. This is the area that might get a few transfers. However, it would only be help in the long run and not next year. I am hearing both Evarts, Cumberland and Cawood is doing fine and I can't wait to see them on the field and on the court next year. Now having said that change is a funny thing for most people so it is all just a guess as of now. However, for those who jump ship in the lower grades I can't see all of them staying with what they will have at HCHS. It might just take a year for them to see that. JMHO As far as Harlan goes it should be interesting to say the least. They have some good juniors to be so I am saying they will be rated behind Hazard for next year.

Since you already know who the coaches are you must have an inside connection through someone. Maybe you could get me a tour of the school and gym. Just pm me I am ready anytime!:banana:

The way it looks on the Harlan County Web page and how it has been described to me they are nothing similiar to the two except goals on each end. However, I really like knox's new school and gym but no comparision to Harlan County.

I was told by Mr. Clem that the Harlan County gym was the biggest in the state of kentucky as far as area ( size). However, they were putting down the floor and he denied my access to take a peek!:mad:

:flame: I too have heard that, but I have also heard many more names for the girls job. Since they made a top notch hire for football I am going out on a limb and figure they will do the same for basketball girls and boys. If what everyone is says about the boys than Harlan County High will start off with two of the best coaches in both football and basketball. I am sure the girls will not be any different and I am ready to hear that announcement too.:flame:

Mike Jones is NOT AND HAS NOT been scheduling games for next year. You are incorrect on that one.

It is reported today in the Harlan Daily Surprise that the new Boys and Girls coach of the new school will be announced on April 10th @ the village center mall. Also, recent hires of golf, cheer, dance, cross country will also be introduced. After the 10th I guess its off to baseball, track, wrestling and soccer? I talked with a local worker employed by one of the sub-contractors dealing with the school. He say he has never seen anything like the school and says the gym is unreal. Good for Harlan County and good luck Bears! :dancingpa

From the outside looking, Clay had enough problems from within. It was a fiasco all the time. Ref's, other schools, other coaches, players, fans the whole 9-yards. Even the 14th got pulled into the mix. Not saying all or any was a result of the coach but one sure is entitled to ask what was going on? I have heard Clay might lose the coach to a 14th region team? Is Perry Central going to come open?

All the kids Clay County put on the floor during that run could play the game. True, the guards made them very, very good but the men they had inside could of played for almost any high school team in any part of the state. I think Keith also might of had a couple through the years that were close to 6-7 or 6-8. The first one that comes to mind was the one they got from Red Bird around the early 80's. Keith was one of the best but he also had some very good players year in and year out. Good players make good coaches more often than not. Just a thought.

There is a lot of talk going around. Hazard, Corbin and even some schools up North. Hounds82, this isn't directed towards you or anybody for that matter but doesn't people shopping around get on anybody else's nerves. It seems that anymore everyone is jumping from here to there. I know that sometimes there are circumstances beyond ones control. However, I have been hearing up to 6 players in basketball alone ( 13th region) who are trying to find another place to play next year. When is enough going to be enough. I don't have an answer but maybe it should just be open season and we should let them jump and not even have any rules governing this aspect. Then maybe so many of them wouldn't want to do it. I don't know but it seems to get worse with each passing year.

Come right on down the road to Harlan County High. We could use some mojo with our new school. We aren't asking for much just a State title in Football, Basketball and Baseball for starters. We can worry about the rest later. You would look good 10 breaks back under ground with a miners light. Just remember the old saying though " YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE HARLAN ALIVE". :banana:

I agree with the jest of your post. Coaches must be able to relate to the kids. Coaches do need to change with the times as far as the game goes. Kids are kids same today as they were 20 years ago. What has changed is the concept of family, which in turn has created a different beast. Kids today need more then ever the strong Coach ( brow beater) that makes them walk the line. Single parent homes, grandparent or aunt or uncle, older sibling or simply no adult figure at all. The family of today is what will lead to the down fall of this very great nation. Those strong arm coaches discipline used to be all that SOME kids got. Today it is getting to the point that it is ALL the direction MOST OF THEM ARE GETTING. Nothing wrong with being hard on them. We are just to soft in the world today and in more than sports.

Good luck to Coach. I am sure they got a good one and I am not in anyway second guessing the hire. But what actually happened. I was told by someone that Hensley was offered and was going to take the job. Was this false or did Hensley just turn it down. From the outside looking in something wasn't right with this entire process. Good Hire Panthers and now you can get to work.:thumb:

I caught the highlights on WYMT but didn't have sound. Why or what was the reason for the police surrounding the floor? It looked like the beginning of a parade or something.

Who will Harlan COUNTY have that will make them good. Wasn't Cumberland senior dominated and the best of the Cawood team is gone. Evarts ? I don't know was just wondering why so many think they will start out as good. I hope so but I also think it will take some time. I sure can't disagree with Middlesboro, Clay and Bell.

:flame: It is very hard to beat a team 4 times. However, I sure would rather be the team thats 3 and 0 then the team 0 and 3 going in to the game anyday. If its all about tempo than Hatcher is pretty good as far as this aspect of the game. It might be like watching paint dry sometimes but he does do an excellent job with the slow down game. I think this will be very interesting. I say Hazard but again thats why they play the game.:flame:
