Your views is why Harlan County as a whole is behind places like Pikeville and London. As a matter of fact, attitudes such as yours is one reason we are behind basically all of rural KY. That is a good question and I think they will have several kids that must be on the field besides those three you mentioned. I think LCC is a tough first game for the Black Bears because of the offense. I would feel much better about this game if it were week 5, 6 or 7 but we must play the hand we were delt. It should be a dandy to say the least. No better place to be on that friday night than LCC's field. It should be a huge crowd and excellent atmoshere. I can't wait.

Reminds me of the kid who lives on the end of the block and wonders why no one will ever play with him. His parents are telling him the entire time the whole word is out to get him. Pretty pathetic stance but we are familiar with it after all these years.

You are getting hilarious with your posts big guy. A yearly game that will never go away no matter what? Just like the yearly game between Cawood and Harlan for all of those years? Oh wait, that wasn't the case was it. I have no problem with Harlan City not playing if that is the decision that they make but it would of helped everyone out a lot this year but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Perry and Clay doesn't make sense and I don't care how you explain it. I go back to my original thought, avoid Harlan City and let them play whoever they want to. High School all the way down to 5th grade in all sports. This isn't anger but a good overall solution to some of the problems between to the districts. finally, Pappy you are giving the green way to much credit with school officials and personal pleasure. Most people in the county could care less about what Harlan does or doesn't do. However, those shots at our leaders are pretty funny to read.

Agree with what? I think you need to read the other post about his quote. I couldn't agree more with HDE, Wideopen and some others who had something to say about Bayshore's post.

Serious athletes who are smart realize that numbers do play a difference in a sports program. One of the best things God created was the ability to compete. It brings out the best in all of us. I get the hint that you are trying to say you can't get a good education at the County High schools? That couldn't be futher from the truth. Cawood, Cumberland and Evarts have put out great people over the years. Doctor's, Lawyers, Judges, Nurses, teachers, and the list goes on and on. I see no reason why Harlan County High will be any different. It's sad that it takes a lawyer from the city to have the wits to be able to see through green colored glasses.

Old news and before I said that I wasn't going to mention the city again. Harlan City who is really some strong words big guy. lol

Some really ( GREAT) news is coming in the very near future for the Harlan County Basketball Black Bears. I don't want to jump the gun so all I am going to say is if this comes to light it will be very big for this first year program. Stay tuned!

I am hoping that they will run that win Offense. I seem to like it the best. If what some are saying I think that first game @ Letcher will be a dandy. I would have to say that I think Harlan County will be the underdog because Letcher throws it all over the field.

I think we all need to get on board or simply jump ship. Just let everyone know so we are all on the same page. I can promise that wouldn't happen at Bell High or other county schools.:thumb:

Why in the world would you play Perry and Clay and not drive less than a mile to play Harlan County. This just doesn't make sense to me. Again, as hard as it is for HCHS to get a full schedule with only 3 home games it looked like the city would of stepped up and been able to fund the entire football program from this game. I really feel this was a knock by the city but hey the county is always the problem. Yeah right!

I have said all along that Harlan County needs to avoid the city schools next year and every year after that because the city only wants to play when it is better for them. The city wants to play one year and then decides not to play the next. The conference was set up to include the city schools. Harlan decided not to play. I understand that the city was looking out for what was best for them and I agree. However, I know for a fact that it put the county in a bind as far as games. It was set and they refused. It's my opinion that Harlan County needs to play in the conference that was set up and let the City play in the league they set up. They need to set up their own basketball league also and run with it. I just think that would be what is best for all involved.

What I would like to see is the one's who are sending their kids to the city be let go. I understand this is a very small % ( only one that I know of) but come on people, you are either for us or against us. This is JMHO, but how could someone that does this really have the HCHS as a concern of theirs? Well you can't!

What effect will the New Super have on Hilton and this years team? How many votes have they taken so far and is it still 2, 2 , to 1? They do not meet again until the last of this month if I am correct. This is turning out to be very interesting and could play a major role in the football at Bell High down the road.
