You heard it correctly. I just replayed the announcement on 18's web site.. Anybody have any more info???

Dunbar should be on of the top two teams in Lexington 6A next year, along with Henry Clay.

Coach Hensley said he would probably return home to Harlan county. Throw Hensley into the mix with all the former coaches employed in the Harlan County school system and it appears that Coach Larkey has a wide selection of assistants to pick from.

Dunbar is an attractive opening. They could be awesome if they get the right person in there.

I see Dunbar being the top "Dog" in Lexington next season. Henry Clay lost a lot and so I look for Tates Creek to be the second best of the public schools.

Interesting that he resigned. Dunbar is one of the "keeper" jobs in my opinion. They have the players to be good like they were in the mid 1990s.

Will they open this Job up to all applicants. Are there any assistants on staff who are interested and qualified? This is interesting.

Steve Sharpe was on the staff and would make a good head coach.

I imagine the timing of this, was made so an Asst. would get the HC job for atleast this year. I know David had a few coaches on his current staff he was really high on, IMO it shows his loyalty to them.

The right person will win at Dunbar.

There are a few current assistants that I'm sure will get a hard look, if they desire to throw their name in for the head coaching job with one being a clear frontrunner IMO.

 

There is another assistant that I will not comment on though. :jump:

Good Luck to coach Hensley he was a good coach in IMO and Dunbar will be hard pressed to find a replacement as good as Hensley.

There are several assistants on the staff IMO that could do a good job with this program. I hear they were supposed to be loaded this year.

Having coached with Hensley for a couple of seasons before I left the bluegrass state I can say that he is a great coach and a great man. He taught me a lot about football and even more about how to treat people. I have learned a lot of life lessons from him. Good luck to David and his family. I wish nothing but the best for them. Thanks for all of the time you did give when you were a head coach. Hensley was a hard worker and would always put in the extra time.
