Yes. Scott County, like most teams, have a hard time winning at Lexingion Catholic. Also, Lex Cath is catching them at a perfect time, just after the Huntington game.
The weather is quite different in central Kentucky than it is down here in eastern Kentucky tonight. This afternoon it was 18 degrees colder in Mt Sterling than in London. It was 6 degrees colder at exit 41 in London than it was at exit 38 in London.
I am thinking SC may get their first in-state loss tomorrow night. That may not be a bad thing. In 98 when they won it all SC was beaten by Highlands at about this point in the season.
The 7th and the 11th could both very well be tougher than the Sweet 16. Especially if you take into consideration some of the tougher districts in these regions.
I live 100 miles away from Scott Co. I am not a SC alumni. So I wouldn't call it tooting my own horn because I agree they play the toughest schedule every year.
Childs and Billy Hicks used to have some real battles when they both coached in Harlan County. One of my favorite basketball memories was when Hicks' Evarts team upset Child's Cawood team in the finals of the district tournament. Cawood was a big favorite. If I remember correctly both Cumberland and Cawood were in the top 15 in the state and Evarts upset them both on back to back nights.
I can understand how Hound82 made that mistake. I am sure he was going by the list published in many newspapers, including the Lexington Herald. The problem with this list is about 50% of the coaches bother to send statistics to the KHSAA.
I don't particularly like coach L's style of play. Its about as exciting to watch as watching paint dry. However, his teams play very hard, never quit, and are very well coached.
Corbin is a high scoring team but they are not even close to the highest scoring team in the state. I can think of at least 5 teams that average more points per game than Corbin. Heck, Corbin isn't even the highest scoring team in the Corbin community. Lynn Camp is.
Scott County 80.8 ppg
Ballard 78.5 ppg
Shelby Valley 76.5 ppg
Lynn Camp 76.4 ppg
Bryan Station 75.9 ppg
Corbin 74.9 ppg
There may be more. These are just the teams I could think of that score a bunch of points. These averages do not include tonight's games.
