Scott Co 74 Lexington Catholic 65

With LC's basketball program being at the level it is, why do they not have better fan support? Every time SC plays at LC, SC always has more fans in attendance. Is it because the community is more envolved in SC sports? I remember when LC played UHA in the finals of the Sweet 16 in front of an empty house. I went to a North Laurel-LC game a few years ago at LC and there were more North Laurel fans there and they had to drive 1 1/2 hours to get there. This always surprises me. -

Looks like last night's matchup was more of a rugby game than a basketball game. I look forward to a possible rematch in a couple weeks. -
They play in the toughest district and toughest region in the state. Chances are somebody will get them in the tournament. They are best team in the state. Ballard is a close second.

Also no distaste for Bubba. The Patterson team that you mentioned was very talented. The game with Corbin at Knox Central was a classic that year. Bo Rhoden let up Central from the 3 point line. Then a very tiny B'ville team upset them in the first game of the district. -

But Harlan Co has produced more than their share of talent also. Jones (UK), Parsons (UK), Cox (Vandy), and the best of them all Sanford (LMU). -

I read earlier that the Lex Cath school officials had the KY state police move the Scott County cheering section from the lower arena to the upper arena. To my knowledge Lex Cath has never had reserved seats.

Let me see. Doug Macintosh, UCLA, Lilly High School, Played for John Wooden GJ Smith- UK, Hazel Green and Laurel County Paul Andrews- UK, Laurel County Raymond Cox- broke rebounding records at Cumberland, Hall of Fame Proffitt- Notre Dame, South Laurel These were all fairly good players. There was another guy that I can't think of his name that played for Maguire at Univ of North Carolina. -

Whitley yes, but Laurel? -
Lex Cath has played a lot of full court, 3/4 court, and 1/2 court zone throughout the years. For the most part, teams that play the same style as Scott Co have given SC the most trouble throughout the years. Conventional wisdom would say slow the game down against SC. This strategy seldom works.

Over the past 10 years these two schools have without a doubt the been the top two basketball programs in Kentucky. Below is a brief history of their head to head games. 1998- Sweet 16 semi finals. Lex Cath ranked #1 in KY and #3 in US is upset by SC. Lex Cath led by 9 with just over 30 seconds. SC scores 12 points in 30 sec to go up by 3. LC hits a three to tie with 3 sec to play. Jones makes a 35 footer at the buzzer for the SC upset. Many consider this the best Sweet 16 game ever. This game started the LC-SC rivalry. SC 85- LC 82. 1998- Finals of the 5th-3rd bank tournament. SC ranked #1 in KY and #6 in US beats LC in Memorial Coliseum. SC 89- LC 76 2000- Sweet 15 semi finals- LC beats SC in a hard fought but low scoring game. LC 52- SC 47 2001- This was the first game of the regular season series between these two schools. Lex Cath 80- SC 78 in overtime at Lex Cath. 2002- LC 73- SC 70 at Scott County. 2003- Lex Cath has to forfeit this win to SC for playing an ineligilble player. SC 2- LC 0 2004- This was another classic battle. Green for LC and Hicks for SC had huge games. LC 104- SC 96. at Scott County 2005- SC 92- LC 73 at Scott County 2005- Hicks thrown out of game in the last second of this one. Many consider this game one of the poorest officiated games ever. LC 77- SC 71 at Lex Cath. 2006- LC 70- SC 67. at Lex Cath 2006- SC 81- SC 53 at Scott County 2006- Regional semi final- SC 57- LC 47 in Frankfort. Will tonights game be another classic? -
Clay Co. @ Corbin Predictions
rojas4 replied to the mathemagician's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Most of the time I would say that statement would be bs, but if Philpot is calling the game nobody beats Corbin at Corbin. -
I knew they were in the BBC and Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is a one game showcase not a tournament. I didn't know they were in the City of Palms. The City of Palms and Beach Ball Classic are the two most respected HS tournamnents in the US. To play them both back to back is a bit ambitious but Hicks never dodges anybody.
