  1. Apex. Sorry the Jones vs Deaton comparison touched a raw nerve.
  2. Corbin ended Clay's run in the semi finals of the 13th region tournament at Bell County in 1991 by 17 points.
  3. 1998- Harlan beat Corbin by 5 in All A 1998- Harlan Beat Corbin by 8 at Corbin 1999- Harlan beat Corbin by 3 in All A 1999- Harlan beat Corbin by 2 at Harlan 1999- Harlan beat Corbin by 20 in Regional HDE, You are exactly right. I think these were the Cory Sears years at Corbin. These years were not the most talented teams at Harlan if I remember corectly. The 98/99 team had very little talent. I actually thought these were Jones best jobs at coaching. He didn't have any Sanfords or Thomas's on these teams.
  4. I think that kC team beat Clay by about 20 at KC that year.
  5. In the Courier-Journal's lit ratings Henry Clay is ranked 19th in the state. Don't let the Blue Devil's record fool you. They are a heck of a team and have played a very tough schedule. Henry Clay has played: Scott County twice Bryan Station 3 times Tates Creek 3 times Mason County Madison Central Brentwood Academy
  6. Other than the SC-HC game, are there any other 1st round games that pit two teams in the top 20?
  7. Every coach has his nemesis. When Deaton was at Corbin, Mike Jones at Harlan could almost always find a way to beat Deaton. Even after the Thomas, Jones, Cox, team had graduated and Corbin thought they were loaded with the team that went 1000-0 or something in middle school, Harlan would usually upset Corbin by 20.
  8. Biggest upset I can remember in the 50th was when Knox Central, ranked in the states top 10 and #1 in the 13th, was beaten by Barbourville who was very average that year. I think it was late 80s or maybe 1990. That was the Knox Central team that had Paterson, Mills, etc.
  9. I haven't seen anyone hand Scott Co a state title. As a matter of fact, Madison Central has a better mathmatical chance than Scott County. This is due to SC having a tough district and Madison Central having a cake walk in their district.
  10. I don't think any knowledgable fans think anyone, including Scott County, is unbeatable.
  11. I don't think you will get a lot of sympothy from the folks at Henry Clay or Scott County.
  12. While looking down the list of district tournament games Monday night, there are only a couple that intrigue me. Christian Co vs University Heights. While Christian Co has had an excellent season and UHA has had a disapointing season by everyone's evaluation, UHA and Hopson are talented enough to pull the upset. Keep your eyes on this one. North Laurel vs Jackson Co.- While neither of these teams are world beaters, it is still an interesting matchup to see who advances to eventually meet Clay Co.
  13. Michael Jackson- Clay County Perry Mason- Bell County Johnny Mathis- Male
  14. I think BS can handle Sayre. Madison Central has a cakewalk.
  15. Teams from the same district cannot draw into the same side of the bracket. Madison Central cannot play the runner-up in their district until finals. IF Scott Co is fortunate enough to get by Henry Clay the Cards cannot play Bryan Station until the finals.
  16. If anyone knows why Jordon Lee did not play tonight please let us know.
  17. Lookout for Bryan Station. They are scarry, and as good as any team in the state.
  18. Sounds like Schu has issued a challenge on Ky High School basketball knowledge. I'm in. When is the trevia contest?
  19. When was the last time a team was undefeated against instate teams in Kentucky? I remember in the 80s Clay Co went undefeated one year. How about the Fairdale teams in 91 and 92? Did any KY teams beat them?
