In the last 50 years, there can not be more than a couple of years that Shelby Co.was not in the hunt for the Regional Championship. There may have been some years when they were a distant second or third. Shelby Co. is always in the discussion for the Championship of Region 8. They have a great program and never ever lack for talent.

What was odd about this year in the 8th?

The intent of the All A has been to give the small schools a tournement of their own that they can be competive in. The regions that have only a few teams may also be regions that have larger schools that dominate their region when it comes to the state tournament. IMO the teams should be in the same regions for both. The only thing I would change about the class a would be to eliminate the private schools.

Proctor and Yager are two sophomore's who are starting for Carroll Co. Proctor runs the point for them, and Yager is a very good shooter. Saw these two in the Class A at Gallatin and should play an even bigger role for their team next year.

I had too much confidence in Paintsville. :irked:

Anderson County has proven on the floor at this point they have to be the favorite. They are 11-0 in the region. However it is very close and there are numerous teams that could win it. Anderson Co. plays the best "D" and are well coached. It is going to be a great regional tournament.

Nice win, for the Wildcats. Wasn't able to attend. Anyone have stats for the game?

Elliott Co. is a very good team. They have one regional championship to their credit and have great possibility of adding another this year. IMO at this point they are a good team and are on a great run, however to say they may be the best ever would be difficult to use any type of records, statistics or team data to make that claim. In 2 or 3 years maybe they will have had more successes that someone could stake that claim. But at this point they are a team with one regional championship, which probably more than half of the teams in the region can also claim. Ashland would have to have a team that is the best ever in the 16th. It probally is the state championship team, however they have had several others that made strong runs at the state championship.

Gallatin has lost to Scott Co., Anderson Co., Holmes, and now Ryle. All are very solid teams.

As against Owen, (even though they led the whole way through) Gallatin found a way to win. That's what the good teams do, Carroll played an excellent ballgame, playing like that will produce some victories for the Panthers. A good Friday night ballgame tonight. Anyone have any individual numbers?
