Impact Frosh & Soph's in N Ky

Featured Replies

Now that the first round of summer ball is over does there appear to be any underclassmen that might be making an impact on the varsity level this season?

Last year we had Boone Co. frosh class with a lot of hype and they appeared to live up to those expectations.

What young players will be making their appearance on the varsity level this season?

Have heard that Boone has another solid freshman class to add to a pretty good JV squad. Ryle & Dixie both had pretty good freshmen classes last year, will any of those players play any varsity as soph's?

Clay Coleman (Ryle sophomore) could be an impact player at the varsity level.

Brewer (Newport sophomore) played some varsity last season. McDaniels (Newport sophomore) could be an impact player for them this year too.

Avery (Conner sophomore) will be.

Earls, Flannery, Popp, and Gabbard (Boone sophomores) will play all varsity this season and will all be impact players.

Yes. He will have the size.

Stephen Kowolonek a soph to be at Highlands is a very good guard and will earn significant varsity minutes IMO. Good shooter, handles the ball well and aggressive.

I agree qry. Willie will have some tough decisions to make this year

Having lost eight seniors, including all five starters and the sixth, seventh, and eighth men to graduation, Brossart will sport a whole new look this season.

Expect Sophomore Jacob Rieger to be the Mustangs go to guy and become a household name to 10th Region fans over the next three seasons.

How big is he, I remember watching his father from his Newport days?

Elijah Pittman will be a sophmore for Holmes. He played quite a bit this year during the time when a lot of players were suspended.

Looks to be about 6'1" to me.

Thats about right, he's wiry and long. If he hits the weights over next couple years he could be very good.

Hes a young soph. Just physical maturation will help him. Too bad hes not about 6'5 thats what the Birds really need.

Grant Pangallo will have a chance to start at the point guard position for Newport Central Catholic. One of the quickest kids in Northern Kentucky.

Flannery, Popp, Gabbard and Earls will be at the top of the list in Northern Kentucky. Flannery will be one of the top long range shooters in this area.

Trevor Wellbrock will be a big time contributor as a Junior at Covington Catholic.

6'0 and nothing like his father, just ask Mom:banana: . He has long arms and can jump out of the gym. Stephen is a smart player and does things right on the court.

All the above, but needs to improve on his aggressiveness
