Roayls 72 , Rams 63 Just joking I have not seen the Rams play this year but based on my observations of RH that are some factors that will make this game a runaway, the fastbreak and the newly improved weaponry of Euton's post up game, he played really strong in the post last game, if would have played strong like against the mighty eagles it would have been a 13-17 point game for the Royals. This team is a team that the so-called favorites better not over look. Rose Hill is coming on strong and the Fraley is getting better bench play every game.

Heres a prediction that I made years ago concerning mens basketball and it may come true with womens as well. IMO there are a 2 things that has made the playing field so even (parity might be a right word to use here...) and has helped small schools, I am omitting coaches for right now b/c I believe everyone knows that is one of major ingredients along with the recruiting staff for any good program, but anyways on to the story. The question was posed to me 12-13 years ago about why the powerhouses are no longer the givens come tournament time and so forth, well, IMO here are 2 big reasons why in Mens there have been too many underclassman leave and turn pro thus every 2 years a Major powerhouse is in the rebuilding process and also there are so many good players now a days that they just dont want to go to a big school and sit the bench for 2 years before they get playing time, they are going to a smaller school so they can play and make an immediate impact, its not so much of being the big fish in a small pond as it is wanting to compete and to play right away. I believe that Womens basketball is headed in that direction, that these kids are hungry to play as freshmen so now there are many schools that are becoming good quality programs. Emily Queen made the right decision, she will be an impact player, while IMO she could play at a larger school but she probably would not get the opportunity to show her talent until her junior year...just my opinion. It really doesnt matter what size the school is anymore, with the right player anything could happen, (Mens 78-79 Season Indiana State...Larry Bird) in recent years Coach Mark Few has built a strong program with Gonzanga. He would be UNSTOPPABLE. AC, thank you for the stats, I didnt know what his attempts were per game, if he is only getting 14 attempts per game then maybe he should shoot the ball more often but that might depend on the philosophy of the coach and his staff, I do know that Vanhoose works very hard and is deserving of all he gets. You claim that kids and teams work harder today in the off season, where do these workouts take place at? Just curious, at their houses? Their High Schools? You know as well as I know that statement simply is not accurate. You may have a few that work hard...Vanhoose, Barker, Euton, Hall, but overall not teams. Anyway thank you for your stats, you must be on the coaching staff of some team, or just another Scwabb.

These guys played for Meredith from 82-89. I can name players from every team in the region starting from about 77 and on. The same is true for Boyd, Ashland, Greenup. I cannot mention Fairview because they had players during this time that did take many shots per game

IMO, ever so humble Opinion, Euton has a much better chance of playing in the Pro's than O.J. but that is MO, time will tell. It is hard to build a team around a point guard, just ask the 76ers. Ask the Lakers, all great teams except the Bulls were built around the 3-5 positions. Do not insult RH or Euton by calling him O.J. Too Bad, O.J. didnt go to Huntington St. Joe, wonder if he would win the state tourney then? He is all about the show and hype, but he is a great player, but Euton will be more effective on the college and Professional ranks. Lets hope and pray that he scores over 20 a game at USC or he will become just another playa, wireman I know you and I know you can come up with a better nickname, come on man.

Vanhoose is a great player, what is his average shot attempts per game? Most of the players who played for Coach Meredith in the 80's did not take much more than 10-13 shots per game, including Chris Jones, Ryan Watkins, Scott Humphrey, T.J. Maynard, Lance Shoulders, Steve Day, Jeff Porter, Sean McKenzie, Todd Parsley, Mark Watkins, Dave Porter, ...these guys were great but very unslefish. Vanhoose is a very good player and breaking Chris Jones' record will be a great accomplishment but teams just arent the same as they once were. I am not taking away anything from Vanhoose, he has worked hard but the above names outside of Maynard shot well over 50% from the field, Parsley and R.Watkins in the low to Mid 60's. If Vanhoose would have played for Meredith, he would have shared the wealth, and he does pass the ball NOW. I wish there was a way to have time travel and see different players from different eras compete, like a shoot out with Harold Sargent, Mickey Syndstricker, Steve Skaggs, Jeff Hall, Chuck Cantrell, Clarence Thompson, Ty Barnes and Jon Vanhoose, now that would be great. Keep working hard Vanhoose.

After 8 hours of collecting my thoughts on your reply, I have come to the conclusion that you may be right. Anything can happen once the ball is tossed up and the game is underway. I truly see your point about team discipline and Foul Trouble. I was just making the point that it would be hard for the other teams mentioned to compete without their big stars. And lets face it, what I am about to say is not being biased, but RH is a targeted team and I will leave it at that. I dont really care about who wins what, I just love watching young men and women compete at their highest level and the outcome should not be decided by the stripes. Do I think it is intentional, I dont want to believe it is by no means. I just feel all officiating is inconsistent, just call it the same the entire game, and from what I see in most ball games is that several refs anticipate a foul or a turnover before it happens and they blow their trumpets ahead of time. It is amazing what has transpired in the last 15 years or so concerning the attitude about RH from other schools and the Community. Another time another thread, once again you may be right.

One must know all the facts that filter into a game situation before assuming RH is in a slump. I dare say that there is not another team in the 16th Region that would have put up the fight against LC that RH did last Friday night. The truth of the matter is this, that there are no teams with that much of a bench in the 16th Region. Let's see how Raceland or Russell would do with their 3 big stars out of the game. RH probably should not have even played that game, considering the night before they played the best in the state. But having said all of that, you are right, a one point win is not very impressive after the way they played LC

Choosing a Mr. or Miss Basketball used to be a no-brainer but over the last 8-10 years it has become a popularity contest. RH's two top players showed against LC that they can play against anyone. IMO, Emily and Laura do not have a chance, not because they are not deserving but because they are in Eastern Kentucky. I do not know what all goes into making the decision but based on overall careers no one has really accomplished what E & L has especially coming from so little of a school. I believe that both have a great chance of making the Kentucky All-Star team. My question is, when was the last time two players from the same team made the All Star team? Just as LC's coach stated both E & L will do great for MTS and UL. Enough said, we know they are two of the best (IMO in the top 5) players in the state. They are putting up amazing numbers while getting doubled and tripled teamed for the entire game. I have not seen the likes of two players on the same team this good since Larry Conley and Harold Sargent played at Ashland. Can anyone else name a team in the 16th region, boys or girls that had two players of this caliber?
