For starters they need to reload in the backfield. They lost their top 3 backs from last season's record setting backfield. They have several backs returning that got some carries including senior to be griffith. They will have to figure out over the summer who will step in as the new qb but, I hear they will have a couple of guys to look at. Trevor short who is a qb with great feet and a strong arm probably will be the favorite. They lost a ton of leadership on the defensive side of the ball. But they have the personell ready to step in there. I look for Rashaad Buster to be the leader of that group. They will still be a very talented team but it will take some time to absorb the loss of so many seniors.

I haven't seen one. Just curious as to who they open with next season. I know they lost a ton of seniors but there are players ready to step in.

Mercer was the best team in AA no matter what anyone thinks. Russell was right there. I would like to add that I believe that game by corey jackson in the finals was courageous. After that hit he took by wills he played the rest of the game with a seperated shoulder. With ford getting hurt shortly after jackson put the team on his good shoulder and put enough points on the board to pull out the hard earned victory. But Russell had an outstanding team. I just wanted to give some props to #2.

It's a shame that anyone had to lose this game. Those Red Devils were warriors. There is no question in my mind that these were the two best in AA. It could have gone either way. I'm a Titan through and through but I admired the passion Russell played with. One of the best hard nosed teams I've seen in awhile. I see why all the Russell fans are so proud. #24 you have a bright future ahead of you. Same to you #56.

No matter what. The best team is going to win this one. Mercer has seen some physical opponents. None the level of Russell. I feel very confident in defending the pass. We have a senior filled secondary that's been outstanding. We will have to see how the Titans react. I believe they will be fine. They love it when they are challenged. Mercer 28 Russell 14

I don't forsee much passing going on tomorrow. It's going to come down to who contains the run better.

When are the Devil's leaving for Louisville? Also, I just want to congratulate all the seniors for both teams on ending your HS football career in the Title game. Big congrats for the Devils on making it two years in a row. :ylsuper:

Alright fellas. We have less then two days till kickoff. Let's set aside our differences and talk some football!! I know the devils are a great team. They will be the most physical team we will have seen all year. If the field conditions arent the greatest friday then I believe that it will be play right into Russell's favor. It's going to be a battle no matter what the weather conditions will be. I'm looking forward to a great game.

Mercer plays at Boyle next year. Boyle will be a tough team to handle especially at their place.

Nothing against jeepman cause alot of people share his feelings but this is negative toward our kids.

Didn't Ashland lose to Raceland? Didn't Raceland lose to LCA? Was Ashland down this year or was the Raceland loss a fluke? Mercer beat LCA 63-0.

We get kinda tired of the merge getting shoved down our throats. We know it's an advantage. We aren't alone in this state with that regard. It's the people that keep saying that it isnt Mercer's fault it's the KHSAA or the ones that say it was done for athletics. Now that's a shot at our school and I'm not just going to take that without a reply. Yeah we are a little arrogant but that's been slowly brought out all year. It's in overdrive now that it's title week. All year people on here were like wait till you get deep into the playoffs and you will see those blowouts will stop. Well they didn't up til this point and people realize how much better this team is then everyone they've played. We get tired of the garbage too!

I heard a rumor that Mercer may be playing Lex Catholic in the Bob Allen classic next year. I heard that earlier this season.

They would be 3A. Did people complain this much when Mason co. and Maysville merged back in the 90's and stayed in AA that year? I know message boards weren't around then but, they were pretty good and noone seemed to notice. There are so many ways to twist and turn everything. This has been a season long debate. Debating it isn't going to solve anything. I guess it's just somthing to talk about besides that game that has to be played on friday. I know the fellas get tired of hearing about it. But, they take all these negatives and feed off of it. They have for awhile now. They are seeing more of it this week then they have all year. You aren't helping the Devils any.

I wonder why? They lost 43-0. No disrespect to them but, if we lose I'm going to come on here and congratulate the winner and that's about it.

Considering Mercer was conservative in the second half I'd say that one was pretty impressive. Ocath was averaging 34 points a game. But, also shutting out Belfry is pretty impressive as well. I'd say both are pretty equal. It tells me that there will be some defense being played friday starting at 11:30 in the am.
