  1. Amusing is a nice way of putting it. Its a little embarrasing I think. If the rule or standard practice has been trading tape on the past two games, then just do it. So I take it by the article they still haven't traded films, right? I guess its a mute point now as we're just days away from the game. If Boyle comes out Friday night and ends up rollling over Mercer, it'll make this film trading situation even more embarassing.:irked:
  2. That doesn't surprise me. Maybe Wildcat77 can give us the real story. Hey Wildcat, do you know whats going on here?
  3. I agree that Cornish looked really good, especially since he hasn't taken very many snaps until the past couple of weeks. If he had been quarterback from day one, having gained all of that gametime experience, then I think Mercer would have more of a passing game as he threw several pretty passes Friday night. But like I said earlier, I think Cornish's lack of gametime experience is going to hurt Friday night. Yeh, whats up with McCloud not getting the ball more. Jordan is an awesome runner, but McCloud can make things happen too. Seems like his number of touches keep declining with each game.
  4. Hey coldweatherfan... looking at these stats, its obvious Mercer's force of attack is the running game. Do you think they'll be able to rely on the running game alone to beat Boyle Friday night?
  5. I hope its a good game... close one. Like LCPATS said, French did a good job last year preparing his Lincoln Co. team against Mercer and stopped them both times. I have no doubt French will have his Rebels prepared to stop the run as Mercer will struggle in the passing game if that is what they're forced to do. Jaggers is no sluff either, he knows what his team will have to do in order to secure a win at Boyle Co. Friday night. I think if the Titans keep it close going in to the 4th quarter then they've got a shot at winning it. If Boyle gets ahead early, I think that'll set the tone and the Titans may have a long night.
  6. I can't speak for other areas, but I know the superintendents at Boyle and Mercer (and those aren't small districts) DO get involved in the hiring and firing of their coaches. Yes, they "should" have bigger things to worry about, but in fact athletics is one area they definitey have their hands in. I understand that this is the way it is 'suppose' to work, but like I said, there are some superintendents that make sure the principal hires and/or fires when directed to do so. The decision should be the building principal's, but in some districts, that just isn't the case. Well... I guess the high school principal could make the decision without going with the superintendent's wishes, but most would like to keep their jobs I'd say. So they're not going to rock the boat.
  7. It may be a KY law, but in 'reality' MANY superintendents make the decision and they make sure their principal and AD know who they want.
  8. Superintendents, IMO, do have the real say-so. Committees may be formed to include principal, AD, etc., as that makes the process look good, but from what I've seen and heard, the superintendent has the 'real say-so'. Now, of course when it is time to fire a coach, the superintendent 'lets' the high school principal or AD do that!
  9. Both teams have talent, but I think Boyle will win by a couple of TDs. One of the main things that concerns me about Mercer is they haven't had a consistent QB each week. Short and Dunn took most of the snaps until the game at Tennessee. Cornish has been the QB the past two games, and though he looks pretty good, I think the 'gametime' inexperience will show.
  10. Yep! This was one of those times when you score with 'too much time left'. It was awesome to see Yeast break away for the TD run, but then we looked at the clock and realized Hoptown had too much time to work their offense. It was a great game, I really thought Mercer was 1 or 2 TDs better, but obviously I was wrong. Not the first time!
  11. I hope I'm wrong, but I think just the opposite. Boyle Co. will be a test for the Titans. The Rebels, IMO, are on their way to another state title and Coach French has them hitting on all cylinders. The Titans have a good team, but they will have to play GREAT to beat Boyle. "Good" won't cut it Friday night. Good luck to both teams!:thumb:
  12. Kinda sad this post didn't receive any more comments. I would have to agree with a poster who stated a week or so ago that Mercer fans have seemed to disappear. Where, oh where, are those mighty Titans fans?? This is the time in the season when things are getting best with post season play right around the corner. Mercer has pretty much sealed the district title and no one around Titan town seems too pumped up. Where is everybody?? What happened to the excitement?

  14. I don't have any relatives in the school system, just some friends. Not quite sure what your comment about the game last year and missing a fieldgoal at the end of the game means. Anyway, I don't think this game will come down to a fieldgoal. I see Mercer winning it by a couple of touchdowns.
  15. School was dismissed at 1:30pm that Friday and I think Coach Jaggers made a comment about the team having to wait til 2:30pm that day to leave so some buses would be back from running their routes to take the team to TN. I read an article on amnews.com about the game and Jaggers talking about having to take the yellow buses instead of charter and they got to the game late because they had to wait on the school buses to run their routes. So yea, Mercer did leave early compared to 'regular' school days.
  16. From my understanding, the entire school (all students) were released early that day, not just the players. I would 'assume' the Mercer administration would know the rules.
  17. Maybe Hoptown will release the students early that day for the game... Mercer did when they went to Tennessee a few weeks ago. I know that isn't the standard procedure among school districts, but it is here.
  18. No doubt, it'll be a hard fought game and the Red Devils may have an edge playing at home, but I still say Mason Co. can go in the 'devils den' and walk out with a victory. It won't be easy and they'll have to minimize turnovers and mental mistakes to do it, but I still believe the Royals can do it! Go ROYALS!!:fight:
  19. Boy, you sure sound confident! Probably?? Once again, I think too many underestimate what the Royals can do. But I will agree with you on one thing james-russell... it will be sad if Russell wins!!
  20. Give a little credit to the Royals. :thumb: I think many underestimate what they can do. It should be a great matchup between the Royals and Russell in a few weeks. I see Mason Co. surprising some folks deep in the playoffs. Go ROYALS!:fight:
  21. He has told various people on many different occassions he is retiring after this year. I've heard he's going to Lindsey Wilson to get a program started there. Then I've heard he is going to Tennessee (high school somewhere) to coach. He has made it no secret he is leaving, so it has just sparked alot of conversation around town. Who knows?... very unpredictable!!
  22. I'd have to agree with PurplePride for the most part. Mercer won't be able to run the ball down Boyle's throat and the passing game just isn't there yet. There have been a few nice pass plays this year, but as a rule, Mercer will try to run the ball all night. I just don't see it working. Plus, all the drama and speculation about Jaggers leaving is somewhat of a distraction too. Mercer does have talent, but I'm afraid Boyle Co. will be too much for the Titans. In fact, it may be a little early, but I'll go on record and say I believe Boyle Co. to win a state title this year. Good luck to both teams!:thumb:
  23. Hey Skunk... Are those baseballs in your 'roids' bottle?
