  1. Uh, I'm guessin' it isn't Buchanan!
  2. 2A, 3A and 4A 'good wins'! Tates Creek, Lafayette, Breathitt County, Russell, Ashland, Rockcastle. The year Mason beat Tates Creek they were Region champs that year and the season before... We all know Rockcastle, Russell and Lafayette are no slouch 1A schools. Well, most of us know the caliber of teams they are. And no Booger House, Mason hasn't made it to the carpet yet. What year were you there?
  3. I don't know Coach Settles, but I do know Coach Buchanan has all of the qualities listed above. I think LC would do well to seek after a well established HC and according to sources, French listed Buchanan as the top pick to replace him. That would be good for Lincoln and bad for Mason if that were indeed to happen.
  4. Buchanan has been at Mason Co. for 12 years. He has strong ties to both Boyle Co and Mercer Co, so I guess you could say his 'roots' are in Central KY, but he has dug in at Mason Co and built a good program. I agree, Lincoln would do very well to hire him.
  5. Thanks for the compliment. And AMEN! Buchanan went to a 'basketball' school and built a football program that IMO is respected by many. :thumb:
  6. Let me tell you what I do know. 1) The Royals played at Highlands in 2003 and lost by 7 in the semifinals. 2) In 2006 Mason beat Frankfort and Frankfort beat Danville, of which we all know Danville is no slouch. 3) Some teams they've beaten: Tates Creek, Lafayette, Breathitt, Russell... those are some of their biggest wins. 4) Buchanan coached the KY All-Stars in 2005 beating the TN All-Stars. That position is voted on by your peers of coaches. So, hope that tells you a little bit of what Coach Buchanan has done and can do.:thumb:
  7. Don't mean to be 'perpetuating' anything. Just going on some of the things reported regarding French's statements about things needed for the LC football program. The 4 things you posted earlier that French asked of the LC administration.
  8. I agree... Lincoln lost a great one in French, but maybe now since they have said they will make the changes/additions needed to continue to be successful, the next HC will have more opportunities. I can't see Buchanan going to Lincoln if things stay the way they are.
  9. Wow!! Thats quite an 'endorsement' considering how the folks at LC feel about Coach French. I know they value his opinion so one would have to assume LC will be giving Coach B a call. I'd say the level of interest for Buchanan will depend on what Lincoln is willing to offer... not just $, but doing those things Coach French said needed to be done.
  10. I figured Buchanan's name would come up here. Mr. Network, do you see LC going after Buchanan? I agree with Watusi, I think it would take some 'tugging' to get him interested, but its obvious the LC folks are hungry for football and continued success, so I can see the attraction to Coach B as he could be the one to carry forward what the Pats have started. Your thoughts on this?
  11. That sounds encouraging and will be a definite plus to whomever may apply for the job. French knows what it takes and his suggestions of what are needed at LC to continue to build a winning program need to happen.
  12. Its obvious by statements made in the newspaper by Coach French that Lincoln Co needs to do some things for the football program in order for them to continue to be successful. Do you think LC will now give the new hire what he needs as suggested by French? It will be an uphill battle if the new LC coach doesn't get anymore administrative support than what French did. Hopefully, the powers that be have learned something through this whole process.
  13. Here is the latest article in the Advocate Messenger (late Tuesday night). Looks like French could go either way on this... http://www.amnews.com/public_html/?module=displaystory&story_id=37802&format=html
  14. Must be French and Larry Vaught is preparing the news article now, huh?! That would only make sense seeing how French was to meet with Boyle this morning.
  15. In reading Coach French's comments in the Advocate Messenger last week he was quoted as saying "I am interested in that position and think it would be a good coaching staff to inherit. I think we could get some things done," he said (Friday, January 18th article). So my question is to the Rebel faithful... If Coach French takes the job and keeps all of the assistant coaches, do you see that as a pro or con?
  16. By 'factions' are you referring to Community, Administration and Former/Present Football players & coaches? Or are they 1) Superintendent, 2) HS Principal and 3) Board Members. And, do you think it is realistic and fair to expect 5 straight championships or are you making a good point? I think at the end of the day Tuesday, French declines Boyle and remains with the Pats. :thumb:
  17. Let's just say HATZ would be tickled to know the first person they talked to. Don't know what happened there, but it looked like HATZ wish would come true and then the chaos began... The person I'm referring to was contacted before the talks with Morriss or French.
  18. I believe French has been offered the job and he is meeting with Boyle officials Tuesday to either accept or decline. He is the only the 3rd person that I KNOW they have talked to.
  19. Ever since Guy Morriss turned downed the Rebels earlier this week, the talk of Boyle County Football and the next head coach has almost come to a screeching halt. Any word on who the Boyle officials are talking to now?
  20. Coach B has a very talented group of kids coming back next year... Yes, he is from Boyle Co and would make the Rebels a great hire, but they'd have to do some pretty sweet talkin' to get him to leave. He's the type of coach you want your son to play for... great coach, role model, leader and a man of his word. :thumb:
  21. The Mason Co. 'officials' arent' smart enough to know that! Coach B has wonderful community, fan, and parent support. The 'powers that be' won't realize what they have until he's gone.
