Campbell County 28 Highlands 22 (Frosh)
They are a very high energy team and sometimes the intensity of games gets them caught up in the emotion. But hey, they are football players and they are young. They are all still learning how to play at this level and they have and will mature as they grow into HHS Bluebird football players. I can guarantee that the coaching staff and their upperclassmen teammates will show them how things work. I have no doubt that these will all be very special players in the years to come and I am looking forward to watching them.

Campbell County 28 Highlands 22 (Frosh)
Just a fun game to watch last night. Both teams are extremely talented. Great crowd atmosphere for a frosh game. #15 for CC had a great game defensively, sorry don't know his name and #19 for Highlands had a ton of tackles. Both teams have a bright future when these kids move up to varsity. I agree on the poor call on the late hit and no debating the Highlands penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct were warranted. I love the intensity of the players for Highlands but emotion needs to be controlled. These penalties have hurt the team all year.

Should KHSAA Championship Games have been played in a downpour Tuesday night?
No, not often, but when it happened, the girls seemed to take a lot of pride when comparing who got the dirtiest! Soccer players are not dainty little ladies on the pitch :0)

Cooper @ Simon Kenton (Frosh)
SK is a better team than their record would indicate. Many solid players on both sides of the ball.

Should KHSAA Championship Games have been played in a downpour Tuesday night?
It is Autumn in Kentucky. Rain happens. These kids have and will play in worse conditions than what was experienced Tuesday night. Early season tournaments take place in March, often with snow and ice as factors. Some players actually like rain games and would much rather play in them than in 90+ degree heat with high humidity. Muddy, soaked uniforms worn as a badge of honor.

Highlands 56 Grant County 22
WhoozYoDaddy Registered User Join Date Oct 06 Posts 834 This week is when the Birds begin to march this season back to where they want it to be. They have had a chance to heal up and work on a game plan for the rest of the season, so no less than a 21 point win for HHS in this one. Next week they grind out a W against the Blue Colonels and they pound BC and Grant after that. Then they storm into the playoffs with huge confidence and momentum. This is from the Highlands, Dixie prediction thread from a few weeks back. Looks like I nailed it!!!

Highlands vs. Campbell County Predictions (Frosh)
Just another game to get the players some field time. Two good teams, though. Should be a good one!

NDA vs Boone Predictions
Both teams have played really good competition all year. This should be good match. Have to go with the Pandas.

Highlands 41 Ryle 7 (Frosh)
Both schools are loaded with good kids who happen to be good football players. I hope the rivalry grows. Makes Friday nights a lot more fun.

It was not a complaint. It was an observation and a point of view. The Ryle coach can choose to do whatever he likes. I, as an observer, thought it was a bad call for reasons I have already stated.

I left after the 3rd, but up to that point Ryle had only kicked off that one time. So to answer your question, because of that, their average start after a kickoff was around the 50 yard line.

Really? How many times was Ryle forced to start drives from their own 20 yard line after kickoffs last evening?

Player development
No doubt that the chance if injuries is greater when there is a one sport concentration. I think this is now being recognized and many clubs are emphasizing cross training and muscle group specific exercise in order to try to limit those injuries. The jury is still out on how it is working.

Player development
It seems more and more that players coming into the top high school programs without good club soccer backgrounds, are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to playing time and even making a team. There are always exceptions but the players that decide early on to concentrate on soccer and play year round are generally the high school standouts. These player need little to no development once they reach high school and are able to adapt to new styles and formations easily. I think the same is true in volleyball.

I just think that with an entire half of football left to play it sends a bad message to your team. That you feel that at that early point you need a gimmick play for them to succeed. Just my opinion, I understand if you see it differently.

Highlands 41 Ryle 7 (Frosh)
For the very reasons I mentioned above.

Why, when your team is down 20-0 at the half, do you try an onside kick to open the 2nd half, giving the Birds a short field for a touchdown 2 plays later? Not only did it backfire badly, it really fired up the Birds who put up 21 quick points in the 3rd quarter.

Player development
I would define it as preparing a player to play against the top competition at a given level. For high school, that would mean, should the player be skilled enough to compete against top high school teams when they get to high school, or should a high school coach have to take the responsibility to teach those skills in the few months they have during a season?

Player development
I am posting this because I do not want to hijack another thread where a member posed this same issue but was off the main topic of that thread. Where should player development occur? Should high school soccer be a place to develop players or should players be ready to integrate into a high school system by the time they reach high school? I have seen coach loyalty to older, lesser skilled players backfire when those players were unable to help the team in competitive matches. Especially late in a season when injuries have taken a toll and subs play a major role. I have also watched games where very skilled younger players who have not physically developed enough in terms of size and strength, have gotten pushed around to the point that their skills were effectively neutralized. Your thoughts?

Highlands 14 Covington Catholic 10
Not sure what game some of the posters watched. This game was exciting from play one. Back and forth action, fans from both sides fired up, some nice long drives, good defensive efforts. The Birds got/made the breaks they needed to win it. Fun game to watch.

California bans use of “Redskins” name
I graduated from Miami in the 80's and will always consider them the Redskins. They have received zero dollars in alumni pledges from me since they went over the top, PC in Oxford.

PA Announcer Ejected from the Stadium
In the games I have been PA and or spotter for, we have always given an equal treatment to both teams, treating the visiting team as our guests. Always introducing captains for both teams, recognizing the officiating crew, giving the names of players on both squads for catches, throws, runs, tackles etc...even going so far as introducing the visiting team's cheerleaders by name if we introduce ours. Sure, we may be a bit more enthused when the home team does well, but nothing overboard and no ridiculous homerisms.
