I still hate for a game to be decided like this. I would much rather see more time and golden goal.

Maybe, if you combine that with the fact that they had no defense that night.

Give the CC kids the credit for taking advantage of the opportunities presented to them last night. They did what it took to win the game. At the same time, it needs to be pointed out that the game was lost because of mental mistakes, loss of concentration and on some plays a lack of self discipline. Hopefully films will point this out and players will learn from their mistakes. Still time to have a good season for these Birds!

The way this game was lost, your 'program defining win' is like finding a trophy whitetail mount at a flea market and hanging it on your wall.

Congrats to coach Lickert and the Camels. Hopefully, with the pipeline being replenished in Ft. Thomas, this winning streak ends at one and another Birds streak Begins in 2017.

Not a program defining win when it is over a team that is in a bad strech. If they defeat the Birds when the Birds are not down, that will be the defining win.

Highlands cannot get out of it's own way. Penalties....

If we are going to do the woulda, coulda, shoulda thing, it then bears mentioning that Highlands also has a couple of would be starters/impact players who are nursing injuries and missed the game.

Being in the stands is not indicative of the heat those kids are experiencing on the field. Both teams were well conditioned, but the heat was a factor in the play beginning late in the first half. The kids from Highlands would have "scored at will" if they could have and there is no way the coaching staff wanted to be shutout after only 20 points. I agree that the defense is very good. That said, there is work to be done to hone this team, (penalties are a big part of that). The potential is scary good!

Very, very hot on that field. I think both teams gassed out a bit, more so than letting off the gas. SK started playing much better football late 1st half. They got organized and composed after a terrible 1st quarter.

He mentioned Ryle in his previous post, that is why I assume he is a fan.

They've had a few down years, true. That said, Cov Cath has 6 state titles to hang their hats on compared to none for Ryle, and there is no real shot at that changing anytime soon. So even with their recent struggles Cov Cath is a very well respected football school in Kentucky and Ryle, even with their recent success, is still trying to become one.

History says that Cov Cath will be strong again very soon. They are among only a handful of teams in the state whose program is always held in high regard in football. A small handful of teams.

I think that is in the State of Ohio, right? In Cincinnati, they are one of the top teams.

Was anyone at the NDA/Mason game who can fill us in on the action? Mason was the #1 or 2 ranked team in Cincinnati so far this season. Great win for the Pandas!

Just realized that I forgot to give some props to the Bluebirds #24, Sawyer Depp. He played well on O and D. Lightning fast, tough, hard running as a running back and played tight coverage on some very good Trinity receivers.

#11 Delegrange for HHS had a great game on bot sides of the ball. Several nice catches and on defense, several pass breakups.

I doubt there is another frosh team in the state with lineman as big as Trinity. Absolutely huge. One listed at 6'3" 310. The rest of the starters all well over 200 lbs. The much smaller Bird line performed extremely well against them.

No, 1st game

Trinity Frosh are very good. #32 on defense making plays all over the field. #1 great in pass coverage. Several stud running backs, 10, 49 among them. 2 very good signal callers in 18 and 14. The Birds played well. Trinity made the defensive adjustments they needed to make and wore the Birds down in the 4th quarter.

My guess, and that is all it is, is that there are team rules laid out in the pre-season that must be applied equally to all players. One of those rules may regard the attendance and participation in pre-season workouts and may state that if players miss a certain number of workouts, for whatever reason, there is a penalty to be paid. So if player 'A' misses for a family vacation and player 'B' misses for another reason other than medical or emergency, they will be treated/penalized equally.

Just thankful it was not an injury! The player and the staff will figure this out and all will be just fine.
