You know what I meant. You can not play a high school sport w/elementary and middle school aged kids. What should happen is BHS start and elementary/middle school team to play in a league somewhere and when that group is of age, then start their JV/V team. Sorry I did not make it so very clear for all to understand.

So, as a para-professional in the Boone System, a person can send their child to any Boone school they desire? I am not referring to a custodian, bus driver, teacher, etc. I am talking about a parent who is hired to be a coach only!

Clever! Correct, a person who is not recieving health benefits, etc IMO is not an employee. Receiving a pay check is just that, receiving a pay check. I can do free lance work and receive payment, am I an employee of that place, NO! Time will tell about this situation but I have known several para-professionals who have coached at different schools and that did not mean there child could attend there if they were out of district w/out paying tuition. In this case, no tuition involved due to Boone Schools not accepting tuition for anyone in any case.

Very good observations and thoughts but as you stated, you are an "outsider" looking in as many others. I don't think the BHS faithful are afraid of change but it just doesn't make sense to start a high school team w/elementary and middle school kids. It isn't fair to the kids to put them in that situation, IMO. Free tuition, what is this? Are you saying it is free to attend BHS if they are in the school district, this is correct but no such thing as "free" tuition!:thumb:

This may be true in the Boone Co School System but not all school systems. Just because a person draws a paycheck from a school does not necessarily mean they are actually an employee of said school. IMO, an employee is a person who is getting paid benefits along w/a salary. Para-professionals do not get any state benefits just to coach. As I stated before if this is how she is being enrolled and playing this opens a very big can of worms all over the state. I really don't think this is how it is being done by dad being a coach. They surely moved!

I was told earlier that on the lighted sign infront of the city bldg, the sign read, "congratulations BHS JV soccer team!"(something like that) Anyone know what this is all about??

Wrong, I know dad and they live in WV district! They are right on the border of the two school districts, as told by the dad.

Correct, as a para-professional which doesn't constitute employment unless the rules/laws have changed. It is my understanding a person must be considered a full time employee w/benefits for what you are referring to. Think about it, if what you are saying is true there would be schools hiring parents as para-professional coaches everywhere in order to get their kids in for free, it will never happen. Therefore, I assume they have not moved. I would also assume the AD at Ryle has looked into this to make sure all is well and legal to do.

Correct, very poor play calling IMO. It was a great game to watch, too bad the P-burg fans didn't get a chance to see the BHS QB at full strength. He was something to watch when he took off!

I disagree! I have been involved w/AAU for 7 yrs and watched very good KY teams play over those yrs. However, when they get to the AAU Nationals they never do well. Go to the AAU website and look at past championships, only one team ever did well and they ironically were made up of SK players for the most part. By the way, I was in MN when I met the TN Asst Head Coach. Sometimes one must sacrifice to get to the next level. FL isn't that big of deal once you have been there once, IMO:thumb: Winning an AAU Championship or even finishing in the top 16 is saying something, finishing in the top 10 of YBOA, big deal, who do you play! Sorry, just not a big fan of YBOA!

I guess so. Last yr Prestonsburg was a big favorite to beat BHS and on paper should be the same this yr. However, the Tigers are very hard to beat at home by an out of town team.

So, it's about mom and dad wanting to vacation in FL? What a shame! Playing YBOA and AAU is night and day. The AAU champion would beat the YBOA champion by 20. No college coaches go to watch the YBOA Championships where every school attends the AAU Championship, yes even at this age level. I sat right next to UT Asst Head Coach, and still keep in touch w/him, at the 12U AAU National Championships. If playing summer ball is about being seen by college coaches, this team should not worry where the AAU Nationals are being held but what college coaches will be possibly attending these championships. I hope they do well! Scott Slavey, former Holmes player??

Congrats to these fine athletes! My question is why YBOA and not AAU? sounds as though YBOA is not challenging enough so why not play AAU instead?

Fully agree w/this. Every school should adopt this idea, start one finish one. Some kids will start a season and see they will not get much playing time and then quit. Well fine but you should not be able to go to the next season for any kind of practice especially if there were cuts made. This kid took someone else's place and now they quit. Well don't reward them by letting them go to the next sport, teach them some responsibility. When I was in school and up until a few yrs ago, this was etched in stone. Now, they quit one and start another, not fair and shouldn't be happening.

Exactly! I am not an expert on V-ball as you probably are but since this scholarship is in hand why would this mean she has to set at all? I am sure she will when need be but Kaela is an awesome hitter. I did not mean Taylor would take her place but she could to allow Kaela to hit more often. I am sure the coaches will figure out what is best for the TEAM. Bottom line, Taylor makes NCC that much better and that much more dangerous. IMO, NCC will be the best team in NKY this yr, no question in the 10th. As for the speculations on why leaving, I am sure her mother feels this is best for her child. Nothing against BHS as BHS has been good to the entire family, just time to make a decision and the best decision is to transfer to NCC. Taylor will continue to get a great education and play w/some great athletes.

So I guess St Henry is out? Taylor will play V at NCC which makes Kaela Jo very dangerous as an all the time hitter! Too bad for the Tigers, lose their coach and one of the best players.

Young and very inexperienced (IMO) w/the exception of R.Hood and T.Snyder if she sticks around.

Why wouldn't they? They hired a V coach so I would have to guess they will have a V team!

Both will advance from NKY and NCC, IMO, will win it all! They are loaded this yr and if they get a good enough setter to free Kaela Jo to become more of an offensive threat to hit and not set along w/Ms Schulte(sp, sorry) they will be very dangerous.
