Mercer vs. Garrard County
I think that Garrard's young guys will take some beatings this season. But, I think these young players will lead them to alot of W's in the coming years. See you guys on friday.

Danville 35 Boyle County 33
I really thought Boyle was in trouble after falling behind early with the blocked punts. But they showed alot of grit to make it one heck of a game. I'm not the coach but I was surprised with them going for 2 with 10 minutes left and a 1 point deficit. But, if it had worked then that would have been huge for the team. But, I think Boyle is still one heck of a team and they concern me with their run defense. Except for a couple of times Danville's speed in the backfield wasn't a big factor. I thought the Boyle run D was disciplined. Good luck to both teams except for Boyle on the 15th.

I take it that you know nothing about the backfield of Mercer. Just my assumption.

Yeah, I feel sorry for the Garrard Co players. They are a young bunch playing some tough teams. I hope they improve from playing so many young guys for the future. See you guys next week.

Danville 35 Boyle County 33
I was there and thought Boyle responded very well with the way the game started. That is a VERY good sign. I was impressed with the way they contained the run for the most part. I was curious to see how they would handle the ADS speed. Danville has to improve their pass coverage. But I see both teams doing very well the rest of the way now that the big rivalry game is over. I'm looking forward to the showdown between Mercer and Boyle now. Boyle impressed me. If that's what it's like to be down then it shows you what kind of program Boyle has. Congrats again to both teams.

For those of you who have seen Mercer....
I would love to still see Danville/Boyle/Mercer play each other as much as possible. I know Mercer has been the little brother the last several years since Boyle had risen to a state power. I think Mercer being 5A wont give them too much of an advantage over Danville. The ADS might be small in terms of school size but they are anything but that with football. I know back in the 80's and early 90's Danville could beat anybody in the state. I remember when Steel Valley from Pennsylvania who were one of the very best teams in the country came down and played a televised game against the ADS at commonwealth stadium. Charlie Batch was the QB for that team that beat Danville. Danville played with them. But that game happened cause not even the Louisville powers could beat Danville that year.

For those of you who have seen Mercer....
Trust me I know. I remember in 1988 he predicted Mercer would beat Danville. Danville was loaded but Mercer had more size and hard nosed backs. Well Mercer went 10-2 with both losses to Danville via BLOWOUT! I reminded him about that year when I read his article the other day. That's where my thread was originated from. But I thought about it. If we are able to beat Boyle somehow. And beat Newport I wasn't sure anyone in the district could challenge us. So I went to the next level and that's where my thread originated from. 10-0 is possibile. But I should have worded my thread different. It wasn't in anyway meant to be disrespectful. It was after getting back from the first game in front of the home crowd. Now that was history and it was pretty cool seeing everybody as one on the team, stands, and spread out everywhere. Even on the hill with everybody tailgating. It was an awesome site for the fans to see their team walk down the hill from the school to the field between all the tailgaters lined everywhere. I've never seen that kind of excitement in awhile at a high school game around here. And I guess I was still riding that high from a great evening and set myself up for alot of backlash. I apologize to anyone I offended. It wasn't meant to be a negative to anyone. I should have paid closer attention.

I think there are some people that take this stuff too seriously. It probably would be a good idea to close this thread out.

For those of you who have seen Mercer....
I thought this was a message board. When did any fan on a message board of any sport at any level speak for the team? Im not doing that now. Like I said I got this Idea for the thread from an article I read. He predicted MERCER to go 10-0 in the regular season. I asked him his thoughts about the season in general after he saw last saturdays improvement from week 1. He told me if he had to do it all over he would have said 15-0. Now I know he just has an opinion as well. I was just curious with what some of the fans thought about the potential of this team. I think the players know they have to earn the respect. The fans have nothing to do with that. So please no need to take offense and lash at me. If you think I shouldn't have started a thread like that then why don't you tell the Danville Advocate for making such predictions. I never made one myself. What I say doesnt reflect the team. Who am I. Just like you. Somebody on a message board.

For those of you who have seen Mercer....
Hey, relax. I think people read the papers. Larry Vaught started it. I was just inerested in what people thought who had saw them so far. I didn't say we WERE going to go undefeated. Probably a poor choice of a thread. But it has led to alot of good topics.

Danville/Boyle County Predictions
Are they doing this every week? I would love for us to get on TV for once.

Mercer County 53 South Laurel 6
The line is nowhere small. For instance, The center Devon Patton is 6'4 or 6'5 and 330 lbs who moves pretty good. He is going to open some holes as he has so far. Plus, last years team had some very good backs with two of them back and with the younger guys they have along with the backs from Harrodsburg, they probably have the deepest backfield that is as fast as anyones. The running game will be alot more dangerous. They already have a 1,000 yards as a team rushing. And if they do have trouble running they will throw the ball. They have 3 very capable Qb's.

Harrodsburg wanted the merge. They voted for it. Mercer agreed. The main reason was for the brand new school they are building. Alot more money will be availible for the school that will be great for all the kids in the county and city to have the same opportunites. Football is just one of the many sports teams they will field. They say the school will be second to none in the state.

You hit the nail on the head.

For those of you who have seen Mercer....
You know this is great for both Harrodsburg and Mercer to come together as one football team. But, the best thing out of it all is that it has already brought our community together. We are a small town with a county that is pretty populated. Never before have I seen all these people together on the same sideline cheering for one team. Before you had the H-Burg community and the Mercer community. I think the players love it as well. Our crowds in both games have been enormous. I have heard that they are expecting 8,000 to 10,000 people for the Boyle/Mercer game with the big following for both teams.

For those of you who have seen Mercer....
I agree. I've just seen a few who seem to think that it's just Mercer intentionally taking an advantage into this season.

I'm pretty sure all the big Dogs want a shot at us. I believe that will make it very interesting. It wont be too hard for them to get up for us. I see that big ol' target on our backs even though we haven't won anything yet.
