Heck of a game for the Owls, would of been nice to see them pull the 1-4 upset again. They have a nice young group coming up their and they will be ready to play next year.

I agree will be one of the best games of the districts this week, along with the Lee/Powell and Breathitt/Wolfe and Letcher Central/JBS games. I think Hurt will show why he should be the player of the year in the 14th region this year, he will do what it takes to win, will guard Stamper and take care of the offense on his end of the floor. Cordia by 4.

Does Breathitt have to win to keep Coach Banks as a coach? Just wondering. He does a good job with what he has left there.

If they leave it up to the districts it will never happen. The districts with 2 small schools will never vote to seed, hoping they get the chance to draw each other and have a chance to go to the regional tourney. 55th is an example of this, Jackson City and Riverside play each other, winner goes to the region. Would never happen if they seeded.

Should be a great one of course, I'm picking Lee by 5 and just hope everyone can get home after the game with the snow storm that is supposed to be coming in Tuesday afternoon and night.

Jenkins was a blown call away from knocking off JBS last year in this tourney, so they better not be underestimated. Puckett's last game, I'm sure he will want to go out on a good note and also the last game for coach Johnson too. Good luck to all.

This has been a topic on many boards already and at a lot of the games I have been around. This usually isn't a problem, but with the 14th and 13th playing the first round in the state tourney, this could not be a good situation to put some of those officials in. Not saying that any would do anything unprofessional, but they will be the ones pretty much deciding who the 14th will play in the state tourney. Just thought this would make for a good discussion with all the gambling that goes on for picking winners of regions and things like that.

He had 24 pts and 10 rebounds last night, looks like he's playing to me. Hazard should win this region.

Banks and the Super are pretty tight, I have heard they are taking the A.D. job from Coach Halcomb and Banks will be the new A.D. and still be a staff member at Breathitt but not Coach. He will just do all the A.D. stuff and help out that way. I have heard Lively's name a lot too, but don't know if he has been talked to yet. And I do believe it is a little early for everyone to be talking about what is going to happen after this season is over, got a lot of it left. Breathitt has a big game with Wolfe county coming up.

Perry got rid of some trouble makers on the team and now are a unit and play as a unit and get the things done that they need to get done to get wins. The points they are scoring does surprise me with Hatcher's style, but when they are hitting the 3's like they are as of late, it makes it easier to score and get into their defensive sets.

Cox got 2 quick fouls in the first and sat the rest of the half, came in in the 3rd and got 2 more quick fouls in the 3rd and sat a lot of the half as well. In my opinion he is not ready to come back just yet and is fouling to be able to go sit down. There were scouts at the game looking at Stepp and he tried to force a lot of shots and went in out of control several times and the officials done a nice job not bailing him out when he was doing this. Both teams played hard and Knott just played very well and hit a lot more shots and free throws. Clark missed 4 free throws in a row at the end of the ball game that would of locked the game up for them, but since he missed they got behind and had to foul and Knott county knocked their free throws down and won the game. The seedings above are correct and the Distrtict will be held at Knott Central. Good luck to all the teams, this will be the best district tourney in a long long time. Better not miss it.

Tie breaker is points, I think Knott lost to Letcher by 3 or so and beat letcher by 2 or something like that, so that would give Letcher the advantage and if Knott don't win tonight they will have to play JBS in the district as the #4 seed.

Who will win this game? This will determine the seeding of the 53rd district. If Knott can pull out the win, they will get the #2 seed, if not they will be the #4 and have to play JBS again the first round of the district. Will be a big game over in Pippa Passes, will have to go with the Crusaders in this one by 8. JBS got back on track against Johnson Central on Saturday and Knott lost a tight one against Cordia on Tuesday. Good luck to both teams.

I think all of them start on Feb 25, there will be a double header girls on that night for those districts and then single boys on the 26th and 27th. Girls final on the 28th and Boys final on the 29th. That is usually the schedule. Haven't heard of them doing anything different as of yet.

So what you are saying is, if they make it to the region they stand a pretty good chance since they will have the 14th region officials for the regional tourney.

Have to agree Proffessor! When you have a lead there is no need to be in a hurry and make silly turnovers and miss easy layups. Owsley has been improving with every game, they have a good young cast coming up and you can tell with every game they are gaining the experience they need to make a run at the District title.

This will be one of the best district tourneys around to go and watch. Have they decided where this one is going to be? Before all the problems at JBS, it was said it was going to be hosted right there in Pippa Passes. But I have heard rumors that it may be either at Jenkins, Letcher, or even Knott. Anyone confirm where this District will be held?

I'm sure JBS will bounce back after the loss to Perry and be ready to play against the Lions tonight. The next 2 games are big for the Lions, they play JBS tonight and Knott next week and this will have a lot to do with how the seeding changes depending on these games. I think Cordia has to win one of the 2 to keep the 3 seed.

Wow, that was an awful lot of free throws shot and missed by Knott County. What is the deal with free throws this year with everyone, I guess it's like that all over, but these kids just don't shoot the way they should from the line, don't know if it's lack of practice or concentratiion. Neither team shot the ball well from the field either it looks like. Stamper must of scored most of his points in the second half because I don't think he had very many at halftime when I quit listening to it.
